If they are the same bikes I saw last year they have Webco mags on 'em already. The Blue Max is late 70's to possibly '81. Don't separate the MMII's from the BM. Get some heavy duty steel rims with 108 guage spokes for the Yamahammer's if ya want. You'll have plenty of work to do on the Yamahammers already trust me.

Call me a freak, but I'd fix up the BM first. It will be a lot easier. The Yamahammers are more of an over the winter project. Good luck!!!

Comming from the grapevine memory here, but I think the BlueMax was a version of the Supergoose sold at military installations.

The gusset ones are more like a Moto-Trac. They have a looptail. The newer non-gusset ones are like Mongoose Cali's or Experts. The gusset ones are the good ones. Yeah, they were sold on military bases initially. Later on the non-gusset ones were Mongoose's first attempt at marketing their bikes in department stores.

Jags also had the "t" in the gusset as well if memory serves me right.

No, Jags were flat gussets. The Moto-Trac has the "T" in it.

I think you guys are taking it too literally. The Jags, Moto-Tracs, and Blue Maxs seem to differ only in the actual gusset. I may be wrong though. I sure do want a Blue Max though. I just like the iron cross. And no I'm not a Jesse James West Coast Choppers freak or anything. BTW, a buddy of mine is gonna be on Monster Garage soon. He'll be easy to spot. He's like 4' tall with a pompadore haircut from OKC. He's been doing car commercials here locally too. Super cool dude. I think Jesse asked him back for the season finalle.

Ah ha, the BM has holes in the dropouts and may be chrome.

That's not how the bike came, but very appropriate for upgrades. Every kid on the block loaded up on v-bars and annodized parts. I'd change the seat if it's an aero style, but that's just for esthetics. Some parts may be newer than the bike. That just shows it was loved for several years, and may speak to the true character of these bikes. Someone made the point not long ago that we would change out stuff over several years and era correctness can be taken too far sometimes. Sounds killer. I'm freakin' jealous. I haven't found doo doo lately.

I stand corrected, thanks for the info. This helps actually. After I get done with the later model Jag I am building I may want to do an older version. Now I know what to look for.
