This GJS is my biggest regret. I've had no less than 200 bikes in the last three years and this is the one that REALLY haunts me. Complete original bike from the original owner. NO serial number. Guy said he got it right from George Utterback. I sold it on Ebay probably 18-24 months ago. No idea where it went but would give anything to have it back.

Great thread Kerry.

I think I said something to you about that bike at the time. That was a nice frame.

Hate that I sold a few frames:
1) Chrome Skyway T/A absolutely MINT to a guy with an ID name of bonscott....or similar (6 years ago?)
2) Looptail quadangle It was repowdered gloss black and had NOS landing gears (stamped of all things) and decaled with baby blue (5 years ago?)
3) Haro team sport complete. Was a friends bike, he offered it to me for a song and I swooped on it. Times got tough, sold it. Fast forward 2 years later to my friend calling me to buy it back (got bit by bmx again)....I hate that I couldn't send it back even if I wanted to.
4) my 1 of 3 supercross 24" quad (old school attributes) that I sold to KOO (which he sold his SST's to get ^^^)

wasn't upset about all my Hutch stuff, I was glad folks were paying waaaaay too much for it

A timely thread...I'm battling with myself to let go of two bikes, as my lady and I have found our ideal home (read a little too exprensive) and I could do with a little extra cash...but I'm not sure if I will regret letting go of these, the nice part is my partner isn't pushing me to sell...but I'm working on a few other builds and I've had a nice time with these, but I just hope I don't miss them if I let em' go...

In saying all that I still have my 84 Profile which I bought new, I wouldn't sell that for any amount of money...

Besides a few parts I sold along the way, my only major regret would be powdercoating my 1st find. It was an all original Bitchin Black looptail PK with gold stickers, for some stupid reason I thought it would look better if it was a pretty shiny candy red.

Well, following Lionel's post....I am guilty of the same thing.

I refinished a 1983 Quadangle that did not need it. Back when I was still kind of new at this, I wanted it to look 'perfect'. I do regret that one a lot.

(I'll wait for Kerry's comment to follow mine.... )

I've refinished other framesets and parts since then, but every piece since that quad was either thrashed or damaged. I learned by my mistake.

Regrets, collecting in general. I wish I had the foresight to just build or buy a couple of nice examples and call it a day. It had become a sickness for a minute, I have taken the last month or so to just chill and re-examine my thoughts on this stuff. Went through my garage and examined builds and realized I have too much. I like quality over quantity. I think quantity is the trappings of getting in this at first. Don't get me wrong I still love this stuff. I just think I might be growing up so to speak.

I am also guilty of refinishing a few framesets when I should have left them be. A survivor black PK that I got from snorton got new powder and decals. and this is the one that hurts the most: I stripped and refinished a futuristic black trickstar. I guess the only good thing was I finally confirmed the trickstar was US made by the Serial # (which was hidden from the original paint) :Frustration:

Ugh! That one hurts...As it is my biggest ride regret as well (almost the exact same ride (trying to confirm the cowboy cuts, but I think so). There was a point in 81 that I spray bombed it black...then red...and put proline stickers on it.

I'm so ashamed...

My biggest regret is stopping racing in 87 & selling my VDC Gorila with 401's/Hutch black deep H stem/Powerlite bars etc etc .

One pic in front of Dale Holmes ( on Powerlite ) at 86 British Champs ( hit the gate in the main and came through to just miss third by about an inch ! :Frustration: )

Some other pics also of the VDC .

Also regret sellng my PL20 ( got loads of pics of that but don't want to bore folks ) , but gladly kept my Vector MKII Black Chrome Ltd Edition - Dec82 VDC made ( not seen another one of these for some time but there must be some out there ) . Also regret my co-ey sponsor JT ALS1 lid .
