Put this together for a Blackfoot/ Monster Beetle. Yay no more stripped gears and expanding gear case! My first experience with Thorp products. Nice and smooth.

The Tamiya Bruiser is back! Tamiya is re-releasing one of the most iconic rc vehicles ever. Looks like they did it right too, it does share some parts with the original, but the tranny and axles are new designs (still metal) the chassis is black, the body has separate marker lights, windshield looks like it has a slight tint, looks like some bmx manufacturers could learn from Tamiya when it comes to making old new again. This thing is sick!

It's going to be very expensive. I still want one, don't know if I'll be able to swing it though.

I am on the waiting list for the RC4wd Trailfinder 2. This is the true evolution of the Bruiser. I'm sure it's about half the price of what the Bruiser will cost too.

Both of those trucks look real good. I hope they lowered the durometer of the tires on the Bruiser a little bit. I really like that the Trailfinder is in kit form.

I read a review that said the new tires are in fact softer. Hopefully that is true. There is a guy on ebay taking pre-orders for $558 shipped. I got one, couldn't pass it up for that price. The RC4wd truck is more realistic and I'm sure drives better, but this is the real deal Tamiya Bruiser. I might get one of the RC4wd trucks later.

Thanks for posting Scott. I will definitely be ordering one for my son who couldn't leave my vintage bruisers alone when he was 10. I would be a great b-day present.

Well, I bought one. I waited a bit to pay for it, but then I got a message from ebay that said they pulled the guys auctions. He relisted the Bruisers again explaining that the last auction got pulled because he didn't have a shipping date specified. In the new auction he said they'd ship the first week of March. Then that auction got pulled. Now I'm not sure if I should pay for the auction. The guy has 100% feedback going back a couple years and sells some expensive stuff. I guess I'd have buyer protection for 45 days so I could file a claim if I didn't get the truck in that time. Not sure what to do.

Bringing back an old post so I can ask you guys a question...

Does anyone know anything about this truck? http://teamassociate...cks/RC18MT/RTR/

There is one down the street at the Goodwill for $50 and thought it might be a cool little pick up. I've had Tamiya RC cars in the past and am familiar with Team Associated as being a good company for RC cars but don't know anything about this truck. It seems to be ready to go right out of the box.

Thanks guys...

Tony

50 bucks and still in the box sounds like a heck of a good deal to me. The lowest prices I see online are more than double that for a new one. If it looks to be unused I don't think you can go wrong at that price.

I gave my Sand Scorcher a make over. Campbell's Soup theme with Andy Warhol in the driver's seat. Been meaning to do this for a long time. This is the car I race at the Vintage Off Road Nationals in the fall in CT. I figured it deserved a nice shelfer body for the rest of the year. I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

Scott that turned out great!

The UPS man brought this last Friday. It's my first Clod. I still need to get some paint and do the body. I will attempt to do a box art body. I'm not a fan of painting.

That Sand Scorcher is way hot. Too nice to race, lol.

Mike, are you going to do it up with an aftermarket chassis? I have been thinking about snagging a TXT kit sooner or later. Something to do this winter maybe.

Hey Jake. I would like to do something with the steering and a 4 link for now. I'm sure I'll get the itch to do more later. I just started to look at parts for this and I am amazed at how much is out there.

Uh oh, a Clod! That's the biggest can of r/c worms you can open! So many things you can (and eventually will) do to that truck. Good for you man! I love Clods, probably my all time favorite r/c platform. Still got my JPS/Boyer truck and I recently scored some old school Tecnacraft Clod wheels, so I'm thinking of doing another old school Clod build. I'm looking for a first generation JPS chassis with the short cantilever arms.

As far as paint, I highly recommend getting some Tamiya spray paint and polish compound. Their paint is more forgiving than any spray paint I've ever used, by far. Just sand down the mold lines in the body with some fine sandpaper, give it a shot of Tamiya white primer, then usually two layers of the color you want, then another two layers of clear coat, rub the body down with the compound and you've got yourself a decent paint job, better than you can get with Testors or any other spray paint. I use it on all my hard bodies. It dries very fast, it doesn't run as easily as other brands and it goes on pretty smooth.

Jake, that Campbell's body won't be raced, nor with the gold wheels. That's just for the car to have something to dress up in for the rest of the year. I've still got the race body with the huge wing on the roof and plastic wheels and different tires to race with.

I recently got back into RC cars after a 20 year hiatus and in the last 6 months have built a Subaru WRX STI bodied Tamita TB-01, an Axial Wraith and bought an Arma Raider buggy for my 8 year old. Currently I spend most of my time playing with and working on the Wraith, its a super fun truck to crawl and bash with and 6 of my buddies at work have gotten crawlers and we do a weekly crawl night.

I will get some pix tonight at our crawl/mud fest :)

Hey guys...!

I'm bumping this thread because I need some more RC advice. I came across a deal at the Goodwill that I had to take a chance on...Below is the picture.

It is a Team Associated RC10. It's dirty but looks to be in good working order. There is a sticker on the body that says Championship Edition but I'm not sure if that means anything or not.

It came with a Futaba Magnum Sport FP-T2PB. It looks to be in good shape but the compartment that holds the AA batteries is corroded and broken. Other than that no problem. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement battery pack?

It also had a ProTech Super Charger AC/DC 701. The only problem here, and it may be a big one is that the timer doesn't work. You can spin it to 15 minutes but then it snaps right back to zero...it won't count down the time. Will it work otherwise?

The car also seems to have some upgrades. It has a Reedy motor. Was that stock for these cars? It also has a Team Novak Electronic Speed Control 401 MXC.

There was also a small tool box with 2 battery packs, the original servo, a bunch of original parts, lubes, connectors, etc. All for $40...!!! I think I did real good if it works. I just have no way of testing it at this point. I got enough juice in the battery pack to be able to get a led light on the speed control, and small twitch in the front servo but that is about it. I have no way to turn on the remote to check the speed, etc.

Does anyone have any idea if I did good on the price and whether these problems are solvable...?? I need to get some advice on these pretty quickly as I only have 7 days to return it.

Thanks for any information you guys can provide...

Tony

Dude, that is a hell of a score. What you've got there is in fact a Championship Edition RC10 with a Stealth transmission. That car is to r/c what the PK Ripper is to BMX, an iconic old school 80s and 90s standard race winning machine. It looks like it's in great condition too. How does the bottom of the chassis look?

As for the problems... the radio should be an easy fix. Clean whatever battery acid mess off the contacts with some steel wool or sandpaper. It doesn't take a battery pack, you just pack 8 AA cells in there and you're set. The charger on the other hand, I'm not sure what to tell you without having it in hand. It's definitely old school and your batteries are NiCads, which are also old school. Since then most r/c batteries went to nimh, and now most people are running Lipo. Each evolution was a giant step forward in power and run time. All could be used in your car. That charger is an old school trickle/fast charger. I love the analog voltage meter, I miss those. When you tried the dial, did you have it plugged in with a battery attached? If not, try that. If you have no luck, you might need a new charger.

Whatever the case, you scored, big time. Nice job! :OSThumbsUpPeace[1]:

I'm an admin on a forum dedicated to the RC10 and other old school r/c cars, www.rc10talk.com You should snoop around on there.
