I've wanted to build this bike for a while now and finally have the opportunity thanks to a few generous people who I will give major props to when the bike is officially "unveiled"
The bike started out as an 07 Retro 30th Anniversary PK Ripper frame which will be transformed into Mike's 1982 PK Ripper which was my favorite bike of his that I got to work on and dial in for him, when completed the tribute bike will closely resemble the original down to the "Source" decals.
Once the bike is completed it will make the bike show rounds and then be auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds being donated to www.rfar.org on behalf of John Crews, Ride For a Reason is a charity organization that raises money for Parkinson's research. In case you don't know who John Crews is, check out the following links to find out more about John Crews and RFAR.

Oh, I forgot to mention that Mike Buff will be signing the bike and photos will be included.

That is going to look great Steve and tough to find better looking bikes than the ones he rode.

I built an 85 PK Ripper that was inspired by one of Buff's bikes and my current Fly Campillo rider is also along the same lines.

I'm sorry, but this is too cool. :)

I used to stare at that worm's-eye view of his tucked endo for hours when I was a kid.

What a great idea and cause. Can't wait to see it finished!

I also rode a P K Ripper for SE when I toured for Vans in 1982. I painted mine yellow and put new stickers on it. Later SE made a yellow model.

A little history for ya.

When I met Lacy and his partner Tony back in the day Lacy was riding the cleanest PK Ripper id ever seen in 81 or 82 and was killing it on the ramps and in the parks, these guys were bad ass for sure, post some old pics Lacy, a great inspiration, Tony passed away a few years ago, RIP Brother

Tony is the guy in the far right of this picture next to Jim Garrett 1982 King of the Skateparks

You have a good memory Alvin. That was in 1982. Here is a picture of Tony and I on our PKs at Stonewood Mall, Downey. The guy (Charles Racette) on the right, is a good friend of ours that rode with us back in the day. He was on a Torker. You might remember him riding with us at John Leonard's house.

BTW, it was really great seeing you, John Leonard, and Andy Patterson again after all these years. Let's get together again, soon.

Oh man! I am so beyond stoked about this bike! Buff was my first childhood BMX hero and I used to stare it his bikes for hours. I bought graphite Z rims just because of him! I happened to notice a few things on this frame that do not look stock and have a few questions...

1. Looks like you replaced the stock seat tube of the frame with a tube that has a welded on pivotal mount. Is this true?
2. It also appears you have decided to use an integrated/internal new school headset. Or is just that the headset has not been installed yet? (I know the 07 retro PK use a standard headset)
3. I see you are using evolvers in the front are you going to change the rear v brake mounts to 990 mounts and use evolvers in the back also?

Either way nice build!

Thanks! what is shown in the pics is just a "mock up", I discovered some issues that I need to fix before I can proceed with the build.

1. Not true, the pivotal seat/post is just sitting in the stock seat tube, doesn't quit fit. I may shim the post or elect to go with something else.
2. Headset is not installed yet, just stuck the forks on to see how it looks.
3. I intended to use the 990's on the back and realized the mounts are for v-brakes, haven't decided if I'm going to use V-brakes or modify to mount the 990's.

I'm having the Seca side plates "updated", the artwork is finished and looks awesome.
