Is Torker still making BMX/freestyle bikes? I checked their website and it doesn't look like they are. There is a store not too far from me that has quite a few in stock. Are they just left overs?

Nope, as far as I know, no BMX bikes. The new logo sucks, the bikes they make are lame, and the way they wrote up the history is downright offensive--but I'm not bitter.
The unicycles have the old Torker logo as does the new Fixie they are coming out with.
I suspect what your shop has is Torker2 bikes? Or maybe the ones they did in the late '90s?
I like the ones from the late '90s. I have a red 20-inch chromoly version and they were one of the first to do a little retro styling in my opinion. My Torker had a Tuf-neck-ish stem, Shimano DX-ish pedals, Araya-ish rims (fronts are laced straight and the rear are cross-laced) and even the seat post clamp looked like an Xcaliber or Tuf-Neck. Everything was silver and black, but the frame was a fairly accurate Torker red.
I guess this didn't work for them however as they dropped the BMX bikes soon after.

Seattle Bike Supply, who owns Torker and Redline, dropped the bmx line with Torker and now only concentrates on Redline as far as the Bmx line goes.

but you can get yourself a nice unicycle!
I think most of the Torkers after '84 were made in taiwan so check out where they were made. Not too sure, I stoped looking at them once they made the 280X.

PJ was that when they started doing the twin top tubes again? They tried to get back into racing again in the late 90's and I loved the yellow 20 inch tey came up with wit several holes in the gussett, and apparrently it rode beautifully.

yeah, I believe that was the time and the frames. There were two frames, one made overseas and the other that was welded up by SE Racing in the US. I don't know if i have a picture of the cruiser i have, but it is the yellow with the multi holes in the gusset. I think the ones with the 'T' in the gusset were the ones made overseas.

Very nice mid-Torker. I don't think those YESS forks are goofy at all, that bike is very late 90's correct! Doesn't Torker make unicycles still or is that another Torker?

Thanks. I had better be late-1990s correct. I built it back then.
Same Torker makes the unicycles. SBS. . .unicycles and a single-speed bike for college kids. So sad.
They make the stickers, too.

I went to a national BMX race iin the summer of 1998 and was very suprised to see
so many Torker aluminum BMX bikes around.
They did have a decent amount of advertising in the BMX magazines.
They sponsored very good racers in 98' as well.
Pro Steve Veltman (former Hutch, Boss), Pro Matt Hadan (former Bandito, GHP,
Diamond Back), and cruiser racer and former Pro who reclassified to amateur
Clarence Perry (former Sekai, CW).
My friend Mike Aguliera (factory Torker 1979) asked me if I could locate a
late 90's Torker aluminum frame like PlanetX has. Anyone have one to sell?
He wants to start riding BMX again, but doesn't want to ride a late 70's/
early 80's vintage Torker frame. He's always ridden a Torker even when
his dad's team TEAM AGGIE out of Vegas had an all Torker frames BMX team
(before his days being a factory rider).

Actually I think it Hadan or Perry that ran the Yess fork just like Mr.X's set-up.

SBS really seemed to push Torker in the 1990s, but then just gave up and focused on Redline. It was (is) a small company. I assume having two brands competing with each other in such a small market was probably not good business. I'd love to go there and help them bring it back. If it made sense.
I met Mike at Bellflower last summer. He saw my Torker 24 and asked me where he could get one. I told him to watch eBay. Then he told me he used to race on Factory Torker. I asked his name and when he told me, I was like, "Of course I remember you." I didn't know he was looking for a newer Torker. They do pop up on eBay from time to time. See more 24s for sale though. Like a lot of mid-school stuff they seem to go pretty cheap. Next time I see one for sale, I drop him a heads up.
Ever seen Mike's You Tube post? It's KILLER, if you like Torker stuff or old, historical snap shots of BMX. It's all Team Aggie stuff. Great pics from 1980. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=QXOwnL8I1SU

Here are some mid-school Torker jerseys and leathers. Got these back when i got my bike. I never did get a chance to race either the bike or in this gear. I was racing that year, but on my DK. By the time I got the Torker, things at work and in my personal life had changed drastically (big promotion & got married) and BMX went on the back burner.

I loves a Torker me, here's mine as it is this summer, i've swapped some bits out on it over the winter. Everything is old, Tuffs were NOS 7/ 8 years ago, pre coloredtuffs anyway and it's the only bike i have that could pass for nearly new.
