sooooooooooooo heres the sitch: i have an ol' 83 db viper that is in need of restro. i already got a sticker repop kit, db stem, turbo lite rims, nos kasimax db seat, and mx brake set. i only need a few more items to complete but after combing through this wonderful site for some info trying to get era correct 3 piece cranks (other than db turbolite). i found out the viper is really not the best choice to spend the money on as these were the "cheaper" frames from taiwan. my plans were to cut the chain stays off and paint black and do a black and gold theme. as a kid i loved the look of db's but never got one. soooooo this is where i am at, do i continue or do i find a better silver streak f/f to complete. my goal was never to "flip" this bike but i don't want to throw good money after bad either. i do plan on riding it too and i weigh 165 if that helps with any opinions.
btw thanks everyone for a great time at peck park, it was a blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast!!! ride on.

In the long run you will be happier with a better frame and fork, those parts deserve a nice quality frame.

I alway thought the Silver Streak was a "complete" based on the
Diamond Back "Medium Pro" frame. Is that correct?
I'll tell you that in 1980, when the first Diamond Back was established,
Leary, Davis, Horton and Stevens (later that year King and Loncarevich)
all but I think Horton and Stevens ran Red Line Flight cranks.
If you do decide to go to a B Senior Pro frame,
you'll be able ride it since its their largest 20" frame along w/ Turbo.

Sorry, I just realized that I left out a crucial word and letter.........
Correction 1) In 1980 when the first Diamond Back "Factory Team" was established
Correction 2) If you do decide to go to a "Diamond Back" Senior Pro frame,
you'll be able ride it since its their largest 20" frame from that time period 1980- 1982
along with the Diamond Back Turbo which came out sometime in 82' as well.
