I've had this bike in pieces for a few years. never got around to putting it together until now. Wheels were the major hold up - but I just decided to use these Redline 48's I had. Winter bike blues got me building with what I have here.

Changed out a few parts from the vanilla stock parts. But it's All original finish / decals etc. I love this Mongoose color. It just screams 1987. I need to go dig up an old Shark Watch or a Swatch - and ride this thing around.

Only thing left to do is add some Axle Pegs. I'm thinking white or silver Odyssey Hollow Bullets all around.

Enjoy.

Frame Fork - 1987 Mongoose Decade (original paint & decals)
Bars - Decade
Stem / Rotor - SR Spin-Tech
Seat Post - Anlun / Mongoose Fluted
Seat Clamp - Mongoose Donut
Pedals - Sr SP-474
Cranks - Sugino 175mm
Sprocket - Tioga CD (nos)
Chain - IZUMI (used)
Brakes - DiaCompe 880 (front) / DC center-pull Rear
Levers - Lee-Chi (Tech 5 style) locking
Brake Pads - Dia Compe
Wheels - Araya 7x / Redline High flange-Sealed 48's
Tires - Kenda Freestyle
Seat - Viscount DynaMax
Grips - ODI / Toad Stool - Mushrooms.
Cables - Odyssey Slic Cables

Those 48's came out in 87-88 - they came with the non-high-end RL freestyle bikes - since the RL 20II came with Peregrine wheels. Probably the RL20-A and 20-B.
They're far from Low end though - they're stamped Araya 7x's. - with Sealed Joytech hubs - Just about identical to the 1st Peregrine/Suzue hubs.

Actually - nope. It's not the one I got from you.
I ended up buying/trading 3 of these over time to get one this nice. then sort of lost energy for the project. But I'm pretty happy to finally have this one together. I think it will fit in nicely with the baby blue trick star and pink Pro Freestyle Tour. :)

Minty fresh. I feel like my teeth are whiter just looking at it.

Seriously -- well put together build Matt. (I still like the other disc combo better.)
