I've discussed this issue with the web master. He says this appears to be a bug with the IPB board and is not a result of the cutomization here. Sorry.

Hopefully updated versions of the board will address that. It is kind of annoying, I agree.

For those that can't figure out what I'm talking about - my message to the web master might put it in perspective:

Is there anything that can be done about photos that are uploaded to the site, but which are smaller than the default thumb size, which are now being distorted to the full size of the thumb?

Here's some examples

Again, the answer was that this seems to be a problem with the board software itself. A true bug. If anything can be done about it, we will surely do so, but at this time it seems to be out of our hands so to speak.

I have a couple workarounds for this bug.

If you upload your images to your "My Gallery" and then copy the image link into a post, it will not distort images under 500 pixels wide.

You can also place your smaller images on a 500 Pixel background, but I think the method above is a better option.

Isn't that just like offsite hosting if something happens to the pic, say something happens to your account and you lose the pics?

Thought "My Gallery" images were hosted here, local to the board and server. Not hooked from an outside 3rd party?

Do you mean, if my account here is terminated "My Gallery" goes with it?

Well that would be an extreme case but, say you even deleted pics to make room for others (there is 100 different what if scenarios). I am really asking out of curiousity because I do not know the answer. But it seemingly would be the case.

Agreed, I was wondering what would happen if I move, edit, or renamed one of my gallery images... would a previous post using an edited image screw up? I guess I could try a test.

UPDATE:
I changed the image above from "test.jpg" to "st.jp" <-- Nothing changed above
Then I moved "st.jpg" to another folder <-- Nothing changed above

New issue, and this one is mostly my fault for posting images via the old "Gallery".

On the old board I would upload my images to my "Gallery" and then copy the links and paste them into one of my posts. I did it that way to keep my images organized. I guess I thought we had 2 options or ways to upload pictures. My only concern was to host them on the board so the images wouldn't come up as dead links in the future. It took me awhile to figure out why I wasn't getting the Thumbnail style image post... I thought I was missing something like a size control tag.

Anyway, I'm probably only one of a few dorks who posted like this, but all of my old posted images now show "Posted Image"

I tried changing one of my Gallery folders from Private to Public, but it had no change on the posted image. Bummer.

Maybe Steve or an admin can try to edit my first post here: http://bmxsociety.co...__fromsearch__1
