I would actually think the gate pic is a little earlier due to the BMXC guy rocking the old BW leathers. 83?
I like the Rebel's torqued out gate snap.

First DY frame sets did come out in fall of 83... and wasn't Ellis riding for Flying W and Huffy in 84/85? In any case.... for sure I could be misjudging the era of the photo.
* edit, I just looked it up... Ellis was with Kuwahara until Sept. 84. Then he switched. He turned pro in Dec. 83. So whatever... excuse the off topic.

Cool photos of Brock Bruce
That pic of the guys racing cruiser.
Anyone know who the JMC guy is?
I have quite a few pics of me racing him in 1983.
Jim Melton wasn't sure when I showed him.
The other pic is early 83' (I think Feb) at the ABA Winter Nationals at Chandler Az.
#9 Mike Salido (Skyway)
#1 Shawn Carmody (BXC)
#A Gary Ellis (Kuwahara)
#3 Darrell Young (JMC)
Ellis was on Flying W for a short period of time in 84'
after he left Kuwahara. He was on Huffy shortly thereafter.
Flying W was owned by Walt Ehnat and his son Marty.
Ellis had been race rivals with Marty locally for years. But off
the track he was friends with the Ehnat family. Walt Ehnat was
also a major track director for ABA. They were all from
Washington State.

82/83 REBEL loop mini-no serial# ![:OSThumbsUpPeace[1]:](http://bmxsociety.com/public/style_emoticons/BMXsociety/OSThumbsUpPeace[1].gif)
Regarding the mini Rebel.. I just met truly odd at the Bellflower show, and my Buddy Pat was the owner of the black Rebel 20" that won. Anyhow, about the mini...I rode for factory Rebel from 81-84 (with Brock Bruce, Buddy Driskil, Bingo Pasha, and some others)and there was no mini frame available to ride those years. I think you may have a later model or a prototype. I rode a gt with handmade one off parts and Rebel decals on it. I am currently digging through old photos etc. I will load them up soon....it's my first time to post on this forum..I will try one.

Maybe my dad was telling me there was no Rebel mini because it sucked...and he didn't want me on it. I will find out.
Brock had several race bikes over the years...he did tell me the other day about that one.
