Just bought my Wife a used Honda Pilot from a friend.

Needs new Tires asap.

Been reading up about tires for it and lots of great reviews on the Michelin Latitude Tour tires. Also read some really great reviews about the General Grabber HTS tires.

Pretty much down to those 2 as choices. The Michelins are alot more expensive obviously. But I am wondering if alot of the hype is true when it comes to Michelins. Im hearing they last a super long time and possibly get better gas mileage as well. Road noise also seems to be really low as well.

I have never heard of General tires before though......

So the next question I have is any of you guys have ever bought tires from Costco? They seem to have a really great set of incentives for purchasing through them.

Each tire costs $15 to install, includes a 5 year Road hazard warranty, and they fill the tires with Nitrogen and you can refill with nitrogen at any Costco, then of course they rotate and re-balance and flat repair for the life of the tires.

their prices are really good too. only a couple bucks more than buying em from the tirerack.com once you figure shipping prices.

so any feedback from you guys? I know alot of you are Car nerds as well as bike nerds.

Should I stay away from Costco? I kinda get nervous with a company that doesnt do cars for their living.

Im not familiar with Costco, I deal with TireRack.com.........when I bought my car(IS300), it came with some garbage Bridgestone low profile tires which rode like they were made of concrete or something, and were very noisy, so I switched them out to some Pirella P-Zero's, which rode really nice, but were kinda pricey....about a year ago, the Pirelli's were worn out, and I was on a budget, so I read the reviews on Generals and I gave them a try. PERFECT choice, they are as quiet/quieter as my Pirellis were, handle as good, and have excellent road comfort....dollar for dollar they cant be beat........ps- I had some Michelins on an Acura CL years ago, excellent tire all around, pricey, but I'd still opt for the General.

thanks Claude! BTW Costco is like Samsclub or any of those membership discount warehouse stores. Costco happens to be one of the biggest Michelin dealers in the US. Im sure it has to do with how they buy in Volume.

I've tried Michelins several times as they always got good reviews. I was disappointed. They didn't seem to wear very well, were noisy and my mileage actually decreased...plus they were expensive. I've tried them once on each of my last three vehicles. ( a Jetta, 535i and a 4WD Colorado pickup)

I have had good luck with Sam's club. They were cheaper than competitors and they have a program similar to what you mentioned about Costco.

I have Coopers now...no complaints but no real props either.

The cheapest place in l.a. is Fairmount on Slauson near the 110 freeway. Cars line up on the sidewalk along slauson so plan on spending a few hours in line. Its been there forever. They do not do alignment, they will refer you somewhere though.

Check out Discount Tire Direct too. Their prices are a little more then Tire rack, BUT they have FREE shipping. Most of the time Discount comes out ahead of Tire ack.....and I've ordered from both places with no issues.

I also just bought General Grabber HTS tires for my Honda Element based on reviews and the value and I couldn't be happier. Very good wet traction and pretty quiet ride. I liked them so much I went out and bought a set of General Altimax HP for my Honda Odyssey and they are fantastic. I'm really pleased with both sets. I got both sets from tirerack.com.

Discount tire will also MATCH Tire rack & others prices, I have been using them & the tire protection from the local one and have been very happy with them. Not sure on tires for your Honda Pilot, as tires also varies from type of vehicle use.
