I was reading the "what have you thrown away" topic and it occured to me that number plates are such an integral part of BMX (thanks NoahSacramento). Numberplates have always been a pesonal reflection of the rider and/or sponsor that rider had or has. Although I am lucky to have a couple from BITD, it would be cool to see plates from everyone with dates those plates were used.
Here are a couple of mine from 80/81. I have one from ABA (which I will post in a bit), which seems to be more rare than you would think. ABA, NBL or any other sanctions would be great to see.
It would also be cool to see any custom plates! I had a friend (team mate)that made plates for us. Ernie Felix started making these by hand. Believe me when I say they were cool. I just wish I had one still or even a picture.
Thanks guys!

My two plates as used in 1982.

Pulled from my dads garage. First light since 1984.

As they are today. Supergoose #1 plate is on the same bike.

Nice! I dig the Bottema, Max, PP and Oakley stickers! Were the 94 and 1 numbers from different sanctions in 82? Very COOL Rides BTW....
Also, what was Invada Racing?

Thanks. Our sanctions didn't start down here until 82 and I was just about done with racing by then. My club registration # was 94. The number 1 plate on my skatepark bike was just for decoration.
Invada Racing was a company started in Aust by a mate of mine, Darren May. We raced each other and he went on to be one of OZ's best racers.
His dad owned a bike shop called Blue Flame BMX and later on Darren started another company called DME. He was also a factory Profile rider.

Thanks Coasty!
How COOL is that! I thought there would some great history, and right out of the gate!
Jeff, What year was that plate from? Kind of looks like a Series one/ Zeronine plate.

cal10, those plates you posted are cool. i always dig seeing an OTP decal on there....takes me back. i remember ernie felix's plates too....a bunch of people ran those.
Haro lightning bolt plates are definitely my favorite....here's one in my collection.
original plate ran by Jeff Parscale (r.i.p.) while riding for GJS and Robinson. i got this plate a years ago from his father Dan Parscale, who was the owner of Ultramax (cranks, etc).

Nice Plate T.O. and what a cool piece of BMX memoribilia! The bolt plates have always been one of the best ever!
As far as my Saber plate, I must admit that it's about 3/4 original. I have to give credit to Andy G. for the OTP sticker. Unfortunately, mine (with many plates and stickers) were lost many moons ago. I just had to add it to that plate.

I really dig the plates. There were all kinds of little creative things going on with the bikes, the uniforms, but the plates were really it. It was each kid's little creative spot to either pay homage to the the brand, emulate a pro, or just go nuts!
Ernie's plates were pretty dang cool. For base materials, they were actually five gallon buckets, and pre curved so to speak. His neat stuff, had me trying to make my own numbers out of contact paper.
One other thing I just remembered, zip ties were tough to come by at times. One guy came out with these metal clips like from the hardware store. You just bolted them on the plate in the zip tie holes, and snapped them on the bars! Worked out good on a Saber!

(Patrick, I repopped those OTP stickies from the one left on my Haro, If you want em let me know.)

Cool Plate Steve! I would dig a shot of the Zeronine.
I found a one of my old ABA plates, the only problem was I pulled the number off at some point(the ABA Cal 10 is original). I made the block number from contact paper. I wish I had the originals. My numbers were 1025,22&6. I did not finish my forth year as Rock & Roll took a front seat. Oh well.. chicks dug it!
Andy, It is so funny that you mention the contact paper thing as my Series One plate number six was made that very way. Another aspect of felix plates was the artwort he would do of us on the plate! I do remember that he used the buckets and how well it worked! He was always artistic and fast. Should have went to the next level with the plates!

One on my Auburn

One on a Mongoose

and one I used to ride on my Haro back in the 90's. That sticker is from a magazine called Dirt that the guys from Freestylin' worked on. It was put out by the company that put out Sassy magazine and a girl I was in art school with at the time gave it to me because an issue of it came free with her Sassy. I remember it was a lot like Freestylin' but not all bikes. Anyway, I used to ride with this on my kneesaver bars for a while. That lightning bolt used to have pink around it too just like the green on the other side but I remember scratching it off with my fingernail.
