I have a set of Blue DK hubs. They have the old DK font stickers on them. Does anyone remember what year they started making these or maybe an advertisement for DK showing these hubs?

I can't document it, but I think DK started with the colored hubs around 93, that was when anno colors, like red, blue, purple were getting popular. I seem to recall Dans or other mail order having "new" DK hubs around that time and were probably referring to color as this hub type was around forever.

I'll do some diggin'.

I will never forget going to a Mountain Bike race around 1992/93 me on my pedestrian Stumpjumper in battleship grey with the usual silver and black shimano components, I am walking to the start line and I see this guy with yeti Arc in the classic turquoise/grey every component on it was some high end CNC bit all ano purple.....it was ridiculous. That image has been permanently burned into my memory. Too bad Yeti Arc from that time had a tendency to crack.

Call me the necromancer. When did this style of hub come out exactly. I think the high flange stopped around 84-ish. Was it really 4 years 'til they started making the low flange?

Until I see a DK or mail order ad specifying otherwise (with the ano colors), 90's.

Found this via extensive Google searching, which directed me to a posting about DK hubs on the Museum, which prompted me to PM Museum member 7700sp (from Athens, Greece) who had this scan from a magazine in his personal stash...

BMX Plus, "Trick Stuff" department (regular monthly article on new gear), March 1990.

Jake, I agree with you -- still thinking anno versions came a little later.

Nice Sprocket Pocket! Looks like a Bagel bun for your cranks.

Those were new for 93, I got a set red ones at the Grands from Dans comp on some pre-built with ARAYA rims after casing the triples and tacoing the rear in the first round.

I'd say early 90's as well.

Yep -- the article above establishes the chrome ones as 1990. I think we were just trying to get clarification on when the anno colors were introduced.
