I've come across some cool shots of team vans. I dig that 70's and 80's styling. The "team van" was such an essential component of the old school BMX experience. We've all heard the classic tales about team vans... from Sandy's stories about speeding tickets for the Diamond Back team van, to the myriad Briethaupt van stories that have become mythologized into some of the essential stories in BMX folklore. Whether it was the early cross country Scot Enterprises with the plywood bunks that were prone to collapse to the camo bus... probably the best known team whip of all. Some of you have your own classic tales no doubt.
Anyway... if you have or find some good pics of team whips post 'em up.
Great post, I love old vans. Whenever I see old BMX race pics or video I look for the vehicles in the background--of course they were mostly vans. I would love to have an old Dodge Tradesman with slotted mags.
Haro Drawing from BMXA Oct 78, kinda fitting for this thread.
and now back on topic: this popped up in the Facebook stream... Bob Haro's photo I think. Pretty cool. Peep the refreshments on the roof of the van. This van is awesome.
