in an attempt to preserve some of the cool BMX pics and info i see on Facebook everyday, i wanted to start this thread to put all that stuff in one place. theres a TON of old BMX racers and riders up there posting lots of great pics, etc. i know theres alot of members who arent on FB and it would be cool for them to enjoy all this cool stuff too.
im gonna start it off with this....i had never seen this pic, but it features a guy a grew up with named chris foster, he was older and worked at Canyon Bikes, my lbs when i was a kid....i would have never seen this pic or caption if i wasnt on FB :OSThumbsUpPeace[1]:

One of the very first cruiser races ever.
1979 BMXL Cook Bros Classic, Irvine Ca.
Kevin Harlow on DG, San Diego's "The Hulk" Chris Foster #125t (Canyon Bicycles), another San Diegan Mark Hoffman on the right partially cut off #14 and on the gate in the back ground on the left, the main winner, Stu Thomsen (SE/ Shimano).

Great idea!
I'm not on FaceBook - so it's nice to have a place to collect and share all of that stuff for this site. :)

Facebook rules when it comes to re-connecting with acquaintances I've made through the years... because it suggests that I friend them based on connections with my friends. In this way I've found old BMXers all over the world that I knew, but wasn't close enough with to keep contact with.

Greyboy, did you live in Texas in the late 1970s? My brother went to dive school north of Houston from 1979 to 1981. I believe he worked with a track operator named Leonard Nunez and raced as an ABA pro back then. He also hosted Eric Weinstetter (sp?) for several days back when he rode his 20" BMX bike across the United States...

We should all encourage the old pics to migrate here... maybe there could be an app that would allow Facebook photos to be shared back to this site... any computer guys out there want to give it a whirl???

My brother, Mike Vogt, #112 riding for Gold Line at the 1982 ABA Grands. This was pro practice with Dave Christiansen #50 who was leading AA pro points going into the Grands.

I found this on Mark Conley's FB page. Mark was riding for Tahoe at the time and Dave was his teammate.

I got this one from Kevin Cobbs files. Kevin monkeyed a hack with Evan Teske back in the 70s. This is another picture of me collecting rocks. :) Fortunately I kept those moments down to a minimum.

Red, is that Billy Mac next to you?

Regarding collecting rocks: by the 1980s, all the rocks had been successfully picked up by the '70s racers and a new generation of BMXers could race on smooth, manicured, tracks with no boulders or marbles... :whistling:

How about a pic from factory JMC Aussie, Andy Raymond. I know Jim will like this one. Pic with Gary and Bart. The little blonde kid is Chris Doves. He is my old sponsors son.
The kid with the big head at left is Damon. I think he was 12 in this pic. (not kidding either)
