From what I understand, there was more of a demand than supply for
Patterson Racing products in the early 80's.
They went to GT to up the amount of product.

Which really wasn't a totally good move on Patterson's part. Don't exactly know which year? but the Patterson's wanted to load up on stock for an up coming Christmas, only to have GT scale back on that order and produce an abundance of their own product for that Christmas rush, limiting the supply of Patterson product's. Vance was/is a very good business man. It's just too bad his suppliers were looking out for their own interests and took advantage of the situation, by controlling the competition's presence in the market.

How do the PRs ride? Dumb question I know, but the Long is certainly different from most anything else, whereas the PR looks similar to other bikes. Wonder if they became a little homogeneous with the designs...

Either way, still by far my fave...riders, bikes, even the uniforms looked fast.

I really like the ride of the PR240. To me, it is sized just right, and with the right handlebars, feels very nimble.

They do look similar in stature to the XL24, one of my faves...My Long is by far the best bike I've ridden. So, just, right ya know?

+100

If you want to ride a newer version with the same feel, try the Boss Hogg designed by the Patterson brothers :OSThumbsUpPeace[1]:

current race bikes

Bump for an old thread! The Patterson PR200 I just picked up is a non serial frame, I was told someone else made these before GT made them in mid 83', anyone know anything about this?

I've never heard about bars being made before then but the forks look similar to the early Redline Proline forks.

Sweet yellow Patty on that cover Steve.

I have seen white and black painted frames 85/86 era.

For some reason people do custom orange paint jobs but as far as I know the Pattersons never had orange frame sets BITD.

As for how does a PR200 ride?
Pretty good!
This is me riding mine recently:

I always loved the little A'me ad with Brent and Brian bunny hoping over the rear wheel - on the early low profile long frame with the yellow tuffs and bits.... Every time I hear Patterson that's my first thgt.

Never really a fan of the pr series ---- I dig the sentry(Nickle) and early Brent n Avalanche era frames

I was always partial to the low profile look of the Patty's. Here is my '82 Brent Replica I did a few years back.

nice one...

Tony, it's been so long, I almost forgot you were you. I remember when you were at every gathering no matter the size... haven't seen you for a long time it seems like.
