i thought i knew where it was but i couldn't find it so i went to help and found that i had been looking in the right place but do not have the option. is this something that is only available to site supporters? if so, that's cool. i was just wondering why i can't find it. thanks

The only signatures are for people with "Research Contributor" designation and also for members of "MOTOS - 70's bmx", and that is only because MOTOS are affiliates.
Other than that, we don't really do signatures.
I would be tempted to allow a Haiku signature.
But in all seriousness, we decided at the end of 2009 that we weren't going to do signatures in general. Too often it becomes a place for want ads, for sale ads or political commentary. It is not aesthetically pleasing so we got rid of it.

I checked it out, Dani. Aesthetically pleasing I think. I am a fan of your haikus naturally, but I've been so busy recently that I haven't really settled in properly to take them in yet.
