I hated the red bars and I bought for $40. They are not that rare...

Still looking for the redline deep v's in nickel. Got the Oakley I's and all I need is the bars for the bike. Looking forward to posting pictures of the complete bike.

I don't have much stuff, but if you would consider a trade, let me know what you are looking for. Thanks.

nice job on getting the oakleys . those are not all that easy to get in black .

i don't know you to hate you . so no hate here . don't flatter yourself . you do not matter enough . but refinishing a part just because you did not like the color is lame . this site pretty much as a whole frowns upon unnecessary refinishing . rare or not .we are more of a purist site . you should know that by now . you have been here since 2010 . so if you find these comments as negative or hateful . i guess that is on you . and you need to grow some thicker skin . that is all i am gonna post on this thread . as to not wreck the original poster's wanted thread anymore than it already is . it is not about you .

If you did not want to ruin his thread you should have just shut you mouth. I was trying to help him not you.

Steve Brothers and I raced together as kids. Steve, why do you have such no-it-all nasty poeple staff this site?

'66 If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing. I'm out.

The answer to that question is simple: so that people who refinish(destroy) NOS handlebars don't feel comfortable hanging out here. Those bars are not NOS now and are worth nothing either monetarily or historically.

Maybe you should quit being defensive and try to learn something if you want to hang here. If you are a friend of Steve's I'm sure you will be welcomed by everyone but you need to understand where you are and what we are about.

Nearly every new person here goes through this. You either deal with it, learn and hang or move on. Happens all the time here.

The answer to that question is simple: so that people who refinish(destroy) NOS handlebars don't feel comfortable hanging out here. Those bars are not NOS now and are worth nothing either monetarily or historically. That is your option. Have you ever seen a 30's - 40's hotrod which is a show car? There are next to no NOS parts from that era, yet plenty of show winning cars. All parts are refinished. I actually enjoy refinishing parts and I have the skill to pull it off.

Get over yourself, this is JUST bmx. These bars are worth exactly what someone will pay for them, no more no less. I never knew I need your permission to "ruin" my set of bars. Not all of us "show" our bikes or take them to seriously worrying about winning a ribbon. It's a mid life hobby for most. These bikes will not be in the Smithsonian. We ride and occationally wreck them.

Maybe you should quit being defensive and try to learn something if you want to hang here. If you are a friend of Steve's I'm sure you will be welcomed by everyone but you need to understand where you are and what we are about. I'm really not being defensive, I've just noted how hate filled so many are on this site over others. It's unneccasary and it reminds me of junior high.

Nearly every new person here goes through this. You either deal with it, learn and hang or move on. Happens all the time here. Again, that's ok. If I did not expect some backlash I would not have commented. I expected it.

I remember when Steve made a comment on one of your wanted topics back in June of 2010. Asking members to help you out with parts and how you guys were friends back in the 80s.

With an attitude like that about vintage BMX parts, If you stick around, I'm sure you will get a lot of "go fuck yourself" and like Owl would say.. "go eat a bag of Dicks" comments.

I surely cant speak for Steve but if I had endorsed you like he did, I would be totally ashamed and embarrassed as fuck right about now.

I know everyone is entitled to join whatever site they want but you are obviously on the wrong BMX message forum.

It sounds to me like you went to a lot of trouble to refinish/destroy those bars. It probably would have been easier to just buy some chrome bars? I have a bike I nearly stripped the OG paint on, looking back I'm glad I got some advice on here and decided against doing so.

To some of us, this is NOT "just BMX" as you put it. Some of us have a lot of passion for these bikes, this sport, and it's history. It is insulting for someone like you to come along and post that. Maybe you should peddle your wares and brag about your skills somewhere else.
