Obviously.

But what a great opportunity to get all alt-rock/Hollywood/it's the white man's fault/Alex Jones n' shit instead. It's much easier than just agreeing with you that the shirt is in poor taste.

How exactly is the shirt just in poor taste? And what does it have to do with anything you've stated above? Alt rock? Hollywood? White man what? What are you talking about?

exactly - i was just looking at that thinking wtf? what are you trying to say?

just be wary of drawing conclusions about this guy's intentions, in spite of what it looks like.

Figures, this entire thread would be started over a simple misunderstanding.

I think this will be my last post not pertaining the subject of BMX. How could I forget thou shall not mix religion and politics with work and hobbies. Especially important to keep away from those subjects when you can't see the persons body language and facial expressions.

I digress...

don't be hard on yourself or have regrets, bloud. I'm just saying it's quite possible this is not what it seems. He might be Taliban too.

p.s.
I actually got a chuckle out of Ryan's comment. Let me get my Aleister Crowley quote book out to put the finishing touches on this thread. :) I know at least 2 of us will "get that".

Right on, Melvins Army! You hit it on the head for me.

NDAA is a game changer, people need to wake up on this one. Ask yourself why Obama passed this.

Yeah? I'd hate to hear you on a long winded rant.

The shirt does not offend me on any level.

That's because you saw it happen with your own naked eyes. How could it possibly upset you on any level at all?

If we want to spend this money a little better, maybe we can do a B52 run on Tosh.0's headquarters and have one less useless piece of shit information source in the world.

Isn't that show a comedy show, on Comedy Central, whose supposed obvious intent is entertainment? Why would anyone mistake it for a source of serious information? Unless...you watch Jon Stewart for the news? Then I can see how you may confuse the two.

And if dropping bombs in the Middle East is a total bummer...but dropping bombs on Tosh.O headquarters is a groovy way to "have one less useless piece of shit information source in the world" then I guess it's not about how much is spent on bombs so much as who is/isn't getting bombed.

Unless that was some offhanded emotional based comment. If so, I'm starting to think you like sharing feelings. You should start a band. Singers love to do that stuff.

Is this painting in poor taste? I'd really like to know if it strikes the same chord as the shirt.

Attachment richter091130_560.jpg

To me, the shirt has nothing to do with those things. My reply was about the comments on the original post. The OP thought it's in poor taste to make light of a sad day in American history, at least that was my interpretation. The replies he got were references to Hollywood movies about disinformation and comments on weather or not the US Government orchestrated the bombings and blamed it on Islamic terrorists.

My reply was about the comments made...not about the original post.

I don't think that painting is in poor taste. Just poor talent.

How DARE you get a chuckle out of my highly serious toned comments! I'm offended that you can even think of opening this thread and cracking a smile...especially when Melvin is peppering the shit out of the place with Melvins youtube videos. Some of which he made himself by the way.

Hey Melvin...remember when you saw the Yeah Yeah Yeahs last week? That was so cool.

Wow, did I get under your skin Ryan? I'm drowning in quotes.

First, the painting. It was done by Gerhard Richter. Poor talent? You might want to learn a little bit about painting before you form any more opinions.

As for the Tosh.0 remark that I made, I hope you are smart enough to know that I don't really think he needs to be bombed. Believe it or not, I too have a sense of humor and it's usually very dry. I brought it up because that's the source for the photo, complete with throw away commentary. Maybe if more people paid more attention to actual issues (like the defense budget) and less to tabloid media, things might be a little better.

I'm keeping it brief now Ryan. You're right, you don't want to see me in a long winded rant. It's ugly. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs show was so cool. I wish you were there, I'd have bought you a beer and tried to be your friend.

Yeah, I don't know much about art or what makes a painting extra-ordinary. That painting of the twin towers with the blurred look may be a priceless piece by some fancy dude I've never heard of. I admit my taste aren't that refined.

I don't know how much bloud or anyone else pays attention to "actual issues" and I don't really make it my business. I just don't feel the need to add contrasting points of view or get political when he posts a photo of a shirt he thinks sucks. But when others did, in a serious and emotional manner as if they were offended that he was offended by the shirt...I chose to goof on that.

I don't really hit the indie shows too much these days but if we ever run into each other at a Wayne Hancock/Hank 3 show...beers are on me.

Merry Christmas!

just a little fact. guess how many "thwarted terrorist attacks" have happened since our defense budged for a gazillion dollars to "air marshall" program? look it up.. it may suprise you considering it has been full steam since 01 and increasing to this day.

I've produced more than my fair share of material that could be viewed as offensive, and sometimes that was goal. Since we know nothing about the gentlemen wearing the shirt, we can only make assumptions about him and why he's wearing it. So if we take the guy out of the picture, we're are left with an image of the attack on the towers as a shirt. I personally don't take much away from that image or it being produce on clothing.

I can also remember selling shitloads of truly offensive t-shirts at the record store. :)

Happy Holidays Fucksticks! :)

Speaking of offensive..... is it safe to assume in this case?

How many? How many major plots have been foiled sine 9/11? The shoe bomber? The underwear bomber? How many real threats?

Pretty sure air Marshalls are not part of the defense budget. Not saying they're not needed, I think putting one on every flight would be a good idea, but I think they are part of the tsa, no? I honestly don't know. If they were spending half the 900b on something useful like the marshals I never would have said anything in the first place.

I can't explain exactly why I don't find that shirt offensive. I guess I just see it very matter of fact. There is no commentary or opinion on the shirt, just the image.I find far more offensive something like a motorcycle rider wearing a storm trooper style helmet. You know the style, it was designed in Germany in the 1930s. Somehow nobody cares about stuff like that.

Ryan, I planned to see hank 3 about a month ago but then I got sick and couldn't go. Ive wanted to see him for years, but even more so now that I learned he bought sleep's old green amps.

If you remember correctly, the underwear bomber burnt the shit out of himself (the chemicals did not mix properly) and the bomb did not go off (because it was a "dud")
The shoe bomber??
Nope.
Flight attendants and passengers..
http://en.wikipedia...._(shoe_bomber).

Not looking for a fight.. just saying...
I think we need to make our air travel safe, as safe as possible. But I think we need to stop being so sensitive, and put x ray screening on every individual in every airport. I was in Holland last summer, They did it at Schliphol. No one had a choice, no one had a problem. It was just "normal".

No fight here bmx bandit, I think we're actually agreeing with each other. :) I was just saying that neither of those guys were real threats, they were both morons. We haven't had another Atta and co fortunately.

We do have x-ray screening at every airport.

I trust this guy's opinion of what we should be doing at the airport.

If our foreign policies treated people with dignity and respect I think that would be the most effective counter terrorism strategy we could have, and would be a whole lot less expensive.

The TSA policy of trading your freedoms for some perceived security is addressing a symptom and not the cause of terrorism.

I couldn't agree with you more Bill. Imagine if we used a good chunk of that 900b defense budget to do something positive instead of create weapons, wars and people to kill people with. Bill Hicks had a joke about that, using all that awesome technology to shoot bananas at hungry people. It would be amazing. The big JC would be proud, Merry Christmas!
