That sounds great. I'd be into a 26.

I'd be all for a CMJ 26
I'm starting to feel the knee pain with my 24s.
I picked up one of 26 snot yellow quads and I ride the heck out of it
a 26 with the geometry of my AP or Dy
with the most beautiful AP forks and world class Chrome
Heck yes.
Heck I've had my AP for what 27 years now
I could cruise a 26 for another 27.

But who in BMX, besides the old school/retro guys, would be interested in new JMC products?
Who would be interested in a GT? or a GHP? Lots of people these days seem to be. Make a viable modern product, and people will buy them. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of this.
Doug
Weren't that many with the GHP's obviously. It seems like they couldn't get rid off 'em and now they're on sale for $299.

I envision the bike from Jim will look like the bike of old, but modernized a bit. That GHP bike doesn't look special at all. They just used the name to try to sell bikes.
When designing the new bike, Jim will have to remember that the kids are gigantic these days compared to BITD....lol

If it give me the opportunity to capture a little bit of the life and soul that Mr Melton put into BMX, refined and regenerated through his family, I'll put my money up now, not for any sort of exclusivity of purchase, but to ensure the venture succeeds.
I wish you and your family all the best and just keep my fingers crossed for a smooth rolling, good looking, US made 26" cruiser.

I wasn't talking about their "retro" framesets, I'm talking about their race frames. Go to a national these days and check out how many kids are on GHP frames. Greg makes a great, relevant product, and people love them. Stumpy was the number 1 ABA Pro a few years ago on one.

I totally feel where Marcos is coming from. I will admit, it sounds odd to lament a company like JMC's resurrection, but I totally get that. My sentiments echo exactly what Steve said as well. Do it right, do it different, and do it modern and all is cool with me. Leave the past where it is and move forward.

I just hope and pray they do it right in respect to their legacy.

My thoughts exactly. I wanted to say something earlier but I didnt want to offend Jim. Just dont do what Voris Dixon did by fixating on the name and the piercing of the tubes. Keep it new and original.

+1
I can't agree more stronger. Keep the past in its special place! I know Jim will see to that........

I echo Steve as well. If the intent is to resurrect the company with new stuff in competition with the current BMX companies out there, I think it's great. It was a great name in the past and can be a great name again.
If someone's just in it to rehash old designs and make a couple bucks... bah. It's been done.
I would really love to see a new JMC be competitive in the modern foray. Best of luck!

My thoughts exactly. By "doing it right" and "in respect to their legacy" I mean the cutting edge technology, uniqueness and character JMC used to bring to the sport back in the day.

I think they will do something new and fresh... and if not who the F are we to tell Jim what he can and can't do with his legacy? I wish you the best in whatever you do Sir.

Hey Guys,
We got a long way to go here. We still have some legal work to do. It will take some time. We want to do it right. So if we drag our feet a little don't get to upset. Rome wasn't built in a day, but we will try! I appreciate all of your input.

I dont think anyone was trying to tell Jim what to do one way or the other - but they're are quite a few I'm sure that feel a need to voice a woe or suggestion - after all we (collectively) are the ones that put JMC on the pedestal, we have for it .... I have been a follower since 82.
Like I said before - Jim is a great, humble and respectful man and if he took this long to do something, I'm sure it is so its done with the same dignity and class he's known for.
Just to be clear and not to be taken out of context - I do have interest in Jim's endeavor and a curiosity as to what develops from it, even if I may not have interest from a buyer perspective (simply because I'm "just" a vintage BMX collector).
In with the new while preserving and cherishing the past is fine - no quarrels - in a way I think it's great it's being kept in the family and it's not some joe schmoe from Kansas trying to hold the torch as if he had any more connection then say anyone of us. I even think it can help secure its preservation cuz they'll have some legal backing to ensure that. All I imply and beseech, the powers that be, take our suggestions into deep consideration (which I have confidence in regardless), as ultimately we are still the target market.
Jim has always been courteous and conscious of his clientele and friends and fans - so I'm sure he's not offended by anyone's concerns - and the fact he's always here to share it all with us is validation enough - as always I wish Jim the best - this is no different. Maybe he can set the next trend and help make others understand that preserving the past rather then exploiting it, is just as marketable.
