These came on a 76 Goose. I remember them from BITD but don't know what year they came out or if these are O.G. or re-pops. Thanks for any info.

Brand new. Oury are still making grips today. That's what they are.

If they were old ones they would not have the little ribs in between the waffle pattern and the flange. They would have smooth flange up from the waffle grip surface. I will try to post a file pic.

Matt,

Oury has been making that grip, with the ribbed flange since around 1981. So, they don't have to be brand new, they could still be 30 years old. I was even told that the same mold is being used today that was in use all those years ago. Somewhere I have documented a picture with the ribbed flange in a 1981 magazine. So, could have been a year or more earlier even.

Now, before that grip, there was the true old school original Oury (not a BMX grip), which did not have the ribbed flanges. Not long ago, I just got my second set of the originals, to go along with an NOS set I have in the bag. The early Oury grip didn't have the ribs. And, the package just says Oury if you find them in the bag. The current/ribbed package says Oury BMX.

But, since the Oury today is the same as around 1981, and they can be plucked off eBay for $10-12, I use them on all my bikes vs. Oakleys. I'm actually a bit surprised more folks don't use them since Stu Thomsen was an Oury guy.

good info, Mark. I didn't realized the ribbed grips have been around since '81.
