Lloyd Wright may have been grossly overshadowed by his father, Frank Lloyd Wright, but the esteemed modernist architect was deserving of his name, which undoubtedly planted a T-square in his hand by age 2. Unfortunately, the Wright surname was not quite enough to save junior’s 1958 Moore House from destruction. The nimble walls and protruding eaves of the Palos Verdes beach home were razed just last Wednesday, and there’s nothing quite like a before-and-after comparison to illustrate what Architects’ Newspaper deemed the “archi-crime of the year”:

According to Curbed, the owner of the property purchased the Moore House in 2004 with no knowledge of the architect and big plans to replace the house with a Mediterranean-style mansion. The plans were met with an appeal by the Los Angeles Conservancy, which was subsequently denied by the city council.
