Here's a little background the seller sent me on the GT.

“In ’81 I had commissioned brothers Tom & Ken Gonzales to build me an ultra-light race bike to be used at the Weymouth BMX track (the final price tag was around $750.00). My son raced it till he was about seven years old, then from there on out, it spent the remainder of its life hanging in my shop, Columbian Square Bicycle Shop. That’s why CSBS was engraved on the back of the uni-seat. Ultimately it became a great selling tool and I sold a ton of mini’s from it. ”

Considering the (front) Dia-Compe 901 wasn't modified and it seems out of place era wise, I believe it was added later.

Shitcan the front brake....looks totally goofy and defeats the purpose of dropping $750 on 'lightness'.

Very cool bike!

That is one of the coolest minis I've ever seen and I love the story behind it, I am curious how much it weighs? Although some ppl might frown on the fact they drilled all the holes in it in my opinion it adds to the coolness

Awesome -- love the extra milling and drilling for weight savings. That seat clamp is wicked!

Very cool.
Can you tell me the location of the serial number? I'm trying to date my GT Junior and it's serial number is on the BB shell.
Thanks

I LOVE MINIS!!! Coolness. I love when things get modified cleanly. That is as clean as they come! The front brake needs to go. Everything else is absolutely perfect in my book. The OMAS stuff is the coolest. I was bummed when I got too big to run their stuff.

I knew you guys would appreciate all the drilling & milling done on this, especially when it's tastefully done. The brothers that did all the work definitely did an incredible job, because the stem and seat clamp are absolutely killer! They even hollowed out the stem bolts as well. However, I was kinda surprised they didn't do any work to the levers? A certain Mike Scott article comes to mind.

The grips are hard and crumbling apart, so I'm probably going to replace them w/ either a set of MX2's or Rad-grip 'cush' grips. I was also mulling around with the idea of adding a number plate too.

Anyone have a beat 'mini' series one or 'mini' D-1 laying around?

How cool is that!
Like what they did with the stem and seatpost clamp.
The chainwheel is a bit crazy.
