That is a good question. If the book was published in 76 then the hub had to be out earlier than that like 75. When did this hub come out?

I am wondering because of the webco I have. The bike is almost all original and came with 75 dated ashtabula parts. It also had the original black Shimano MX hub for .105 spokes on the front. The original coaster brake was gone but I replaced it.

Then a friend asks, 1975? Shouldn't that thing have a Bendix coaster brake on it????
