Anyone that knows me knows I'm all about the old school. Funny thing about collecting and restoring these old bikes is the fact that it brought me full circle and I started riding again. I started back around 2002 and I did it off and on over the last 10 years. Most large gaps due to illness, injury or laziness. I started with a mid 90's Mongoose Menace 24 Then when Fuji resurrected the SE brand in '04 I picked up a 2004 OM Flyer and have ridden it since then. Allot of people panned it at the time saying it wasn't real SE, but I didn't care I saw it for what it was. A 26 inch aluminum framed bike with a Cro-mo fork and modern BMX geometry. The 1 1/8 steer tube and integrated headset were just a bonus. I wanted a modern bike for the modern tracks I rode. it seemed to fill the bill nicely.

Once I got my hands on it I knew I would have to make changes. Even before I rolled out of the bike shop changes were made. The stock bars were almost strait and more like mountain bike bars. Same went for the Kenda tires, more MTB than BMX. But at least they went big and little with the tire sizes. The tires were ok for now but before it left the shop I also bought a brand new set of Redline forklifter bars with a 6 inch rise and had them installed. I also bought the ATI pad set at the same time as well.

I swapped out the seat because I thought the original one ugly. I first put on an old Schwinn BMX seat but the plastic seat pan shattered after awhile from use, after that the Windsor saddle went on. And I have kept all of the original parts I have removed from this bike by the way. When my riding got too fast for the original tires I was very happy fo find some Intense Micro-knobby tires in 26 inch sizes. Those puppies made a huge difference in the handling strait out! Lastly Steve Blackey at the Bicycle Source was gracious enough to sponsor me a set of repop Oakley B-1B grips when I stopped by one sunday and mentioned I was 'Thinking" of replacing the grips on my track bike. A perfect use for repops, I love em. Thanks Steve!

So bars grips seat and tires and chain. everything else as it came out of the box 2004 SE OM Flyer.

Sodbuster... the site will pay your entry fees at the old school race next weekend, and buy you a beer (which you can only drink after lieaving the park )

That bike is too new though. You'll have to race an old one. You can ride my OM Flyer if you want.

Haha! Thanks loads I'm sure. This is the bike I've spent most of my time on over the last year or so. Twice a week most weeks riding practice at Bellflower. It's my weekly exercise ritual. Mr. JulianTorker Hammonds joins me every week for some gates and laps. Good times.
