Scott, it is disgraceful. All of it. From the design to the country of origin to the USOC. What a bunch of clueless, out of touch morons. I love the 2008 design. It's similiar I guess but the new one is just so uninteresting. Did no one take a look at an actual current BMX team uniform to see what styles are being represented these days?

I actually kind of like the new uniforms better than the old. Less is more sometimes, plus we are looking at renderings not the exact suit. I bet the look much better in person.

I like the 2008 uniform a little more as the USA name is bigger and easier to make out. As far as the Australian uniform, I don't know, that cute girl, Lauren Reynolds, would probably make anything she's wearing look good.

I dig the new jersey and pants, definitely paying homage to BMX's 70's roots. Like a lot of us older bmx'rs and collectors, I find the modern era BMX jerseys with their busy computer generated logos and graphics kinda over the top. Yet when somebody designs a simple BMX uniform it's just not good enough...?
The jersey logo reminds me of something you would have seen at the track in the 70's. Kinda like Littlejohn's eagle logo, simple and cool. And the pants remind of something Bill Walters, Vera's, or Endo would have made BITD.
Looking forward to the Olympics next month...

I hope you are right. I wanna see the helmets and the bikes. If they carry an OS theme through all of it, that would be rad and make sense. If the helmets are plain, this uni might look a little better. I bet they will be wild, though and not match. Is the team gonna have custom painted bikes?

i agree 100 % . The only thing I do not like is they are made in China . Other than that i like it a lot . VERY 70s looking . I absolutely hate modern race jerseys and leathers . FUGLY ! both for BMX and motocross .

OK now first off I have only read most of the first page of this thread. At that point I could see were the tome was going. I'm not going into the whole made in china fuck up if only to ask, does that go the BMX "leathers" as well? I know it's the case for the opening ceremony uniforms. Other then that I am only going to give my first impression of what flashed through my head when I saw the design. When I saw the jersey the first image I saw was Billy Wouda flying through the air in a blast down Yarnell riding for GLJ. That's right it reminds me of a Team GLJ jersey. As for the pants the only thing missing are the words "You Lose" across the ass!
Am I the only one that caught the old school ques all over this riding gear?
<div><br></div><div>( I just read back. I guess I wasn't The only one.) </div>

Pants are pants. Wear a pair of jeans for all I care. I don't think these are that different from some old Dyno or Haro pants though.
I think the Jersey is perfect. Roots.
If someone designs a new helmet reminiscent of a Bell Moto or something, that would be awesome.

Regardless of what I have already stated here, I am gonna wait to see what the actual uni looks like before I am any more critical. My fear is that design was not supposed to look OS. It just does by mistake.

I don't know why it would be a big deal if they were designed to intentionally look OS or not? Even if it was unintentional the throwback look of the jerseys look dope.

I'm looking at it from a design standpoint only. The fact that it is throwback looking does not really appeal to me personally. . As I said before, I want to see the helmets and the rest of the gear.

I think these will be quite alright... the old school aesthetic is kind of a nice surprise, so as soon as somebody sees a pic of the real uniform, please post it here. They have to be showing up soon... the event is only a month away right?
see what I mean about the beer logo:

of course the eagle is a tried and true "Americana" motif.... so let's see. They might look super dope when it's all said and done.
I hope it's seen on the high, middle riser of the medal podium

They look better then what I saw about a year a go out the double top secret rider testing at the Olympic Training Center. They actually were proposing skinny jeans in the prelim stages. The riders wore the stuff and gave them some feedback. I was joking with the Nike guys that I wouldn't want to wear my sisters jeans to the Olympics and said something of the effect of once yours nuts drop, you can;t wear tight p[ants like that. hahahah...
They also had these black leather Easy Rider style gloves they were wearing as the proposed glove. They were pretty cool, with the holes cut out on the knuckles very 70's driving gloves style. I asked what was the look they were going for and they said they said a slice of Americana.
They also mentioned possibly having 2 Team USA uniform . One for the motos and another one for the Finals when they go for the GOLD! They also mention it being more black and told me to think of Rat Rod culture. Not sure this is going to happen. Might look pretty slick with some suede black helmets with some Rat Rod pin striping, or made some ghost Evel stripes on the helmet!! Just my .02.
I'll be there this year to watch it all go down. I'm not real inspired but the Team USA uni's, but once your there on site and see it all go down, it becomes more about your country and not what the uni looks like.

OMG, the "nut drop" comment had me rolling! I am encouraged by what I hear as long as no skinny jeans are involved.

Ok... you guys critiqued the fuck out of the uniforms... now the bikes.
A little something for the Canadians and Australians here too.
Do they look good enough?
For those who thought the leathers should be made in USA... should the team USA bikes be make in the USA, like the uniforms?
Redlines, ridden by Australian, Canadian and USA team riders

I know the boys won't like these, but they are still pretty sweet!! Custom personalised Shimano clips for Team USA's Connor Fields!

I don't mind clips... and I certainly concede that you better be clipped in if you are trying to compete at the Olympic level.
