One of the homies picked this up at a garage sale.

I suspect this is a retro. Put a query in the shout box... surprisingly no definitive answer based on what I believe is a telling sign - the serial is on the bottom bracket.

serial is difficult to photograph... SNACEO7H02328

I saw that page, but I don't think there is anything that quite fits this one mentioned there. Or am I just not catching it?

Yeah, that's a cool bike, but a retro for sure. The website Old Roads has a good chart, too, for dating Schwinns. http://oldroads.com/sh_sn.asp

Yes it's a retro model. Those hit about ten years ago. Just before the new "Chopper style" stingrays came out. Posted Image

the interesting thing was... this came from a garage sale, my friend talked to the people who made up a story about their kid riding this in the 70's.

Amazing. Even people at garage sales are scamming.

the good news is... he didn't pay much, and I saw one just like it get $230+ on ebay a few days ago, so he'll be just fine if he can get that much for it. The investment would still be returned multi-fold.

But neighborhood people lying through their teeth at a garage sale is sad, for sure.
