I know I haven't frequented this site much recently. Nothing against anyone here. I do get notified of new posts and pop in to see them when it is something that interests me. I just had a couple bad local transactions and it kind of soured me on the whole thing so I have taken a break.
I know a lot of you don't know me as I don't seem to make the out of town get togethers. Those of you that do I haven't been able to meet most of your personally. I really plan on making it to the reunion next year. It is close enough for me I just always am doing something else on that weekend. It seems like this community has grown so quickly in a short amount of time. I do really enjoy this site and have been a collecter and builder since early 2000. I know most of the "original" guys that started in this hobby. It is amazing how many of them have disappeared over the years. I do feel I have built some good relationships with some of the members here and feel we are friends.
I just don't go full bore on this bmx stuff. It seems like it goes in spurts with me. I know I don't show many of my builds and to me I feel that maybe I list the stuff I find more often than the stuff I actually build. I ride everything I build and I guess it just doesn't seem as important to me to show it off when it is done. It is on the other hand very exciting to me when I find cool old school stuff.
This is longwinded I know. I not sure why I felt I needed to write it. It just seems that sometimes I feel I am not doing enough on this site or something. I want to contribute more but life is just busy. I don't have the knowledge so many of you guys have. I just enjoy the history of it all. I only raced a few times as kid and nothing ever serious. We had a neighborhood track on 2 acres when I was young and I spent most of my time there. My freinds and I were on our bikes everyday and rode them all over the valley! I have always loved these bikes and probably always will. I hope to have more time to spend here soon.

Bah... don't beat yourself up for taking a break. Many of us get a feeling of a malaise at times. Sometimes it's not fun being "on" 365 days a year. Stepping back sometimes and getting a fresh look at things gives you perspective.
It's all good. Welcome back.

Thanks! A big part of what it comes down to is I was just really spending too much time focusing on these bikes and not enough time focusing on my job. I work from home and have an used auto parts business and it was just too easy to piddle with the bikes and not on the work. Like I said there are a lot of good guys here and a ton of you have a wealth of knowledge. It has helped me so much over the years on putting stuff together correctly. This site has changed my train of thought from full restorations to preservation when at all possible. I used to think these needed to look shiny and new and now appreciate them for their true history. This is all because of this site.

Thanks for everyone being so understanding. Normally I come to this site to relax. I guess I have been screwing off too much so I don't get as much of a chance to relax as I would like to. I really miss some of the guys around here though. I will try and check in when I can.

I have recently suffered the same situation. Backed off the scene a bit and now I drop in from time to time and see what's going on.
It got to the point where I was reading every single topic in every section and I just burned myself out.
Now I just hit the stuff that sounds interesting and toss in my two cents worth... if i think it will be helpful.

Thanks Donnie! I plan on getting together for some beers and Mexican food next time I am out there! Haven't had much of a chance all summer to get out of town. I am due to get out of this Hell hole called Phoenix for a cooler climate for a while!

Fully understand, been there, done that, I was out for so long I forgotten friends, family, trying to make amends, yeah, sometimes you need to take a step back and breathe, if not you end up putting your foot in your mouth, that mistake cost me dearly, take care and have a good one.

Jeff,
Good to see you back around. I hope all is well and don't worry we will always be here. We all goes through peaks and valleys but the good people always resurface.
