Topics I've Started

  1. I may not be on here all the time

    Posted 13 Aug 2009

but my .09 per day gets me Premier site support status on OS-BMX for a year and keeps the lights on. A small investment for the knowledge found here.

    Just renewed my dues.

Lots of new SN's here so if you like what you see, help support the site!

  2. An unfinished Nomura, finished.

    Posted 10 Jan 2008

What's up all. Below are pictures of Kanedog's Chromoly Nomura. At the time that I am writing this, he should be about 4 hours into a 13 hour flight back to Japan. We finished building this bike last night so that he could see it before he left today.
The Nomura pictured below was an unfinished Chromoly Nomura frame that Scott/Kanedog had received from Wade Nomura earlier this year. This had been sitting in Wade's garage since the 80's in it's raw, unchromed and unfinished state. Kanedog was a factory Nomura rider, expert I think, and was able to receive this frame from Wade on the premise that it would never be sold and that the finish on it resembled the color scheme that Wade wanted to put on it had he finished the frame.
Scott chose the parts list based on the majority of parts he ran on his Alloy Nomura back in the day and the parts that he could've used had he been able to afford it back then. He has been purchasing a lot of parts for this build and for another project and has been having all of the parts ship to me, I say if the parts are good, then he contacts the members of this site or V or eBay and lets em know that everything is cool.
In no particular order, kanedog's thank you's to the following: Wade Nomura for the frame and color scheme, G - Da-G-Ryde for leaving work early the other day to polish and press in the cups on the bb and headset, Aguilar for the JMC DY Bars and not charging extra for that costly shipping mistake, Spur for the stem and brakes, John Catsikl for the tires, bmxrob for the headset, snorton for the seat post clamp, willinois for the seat post, tankerkranker for the 2nd gen graphites, indy69camaro for the 401's and Kerry for the DX's.

From Kanedog: "I got really lucky dealing with everyone, because everyone was very honest and friendly. Thank you everyone for helping a newby completing his first build. "
On that note, I 'd like to thank all of the guys on here for having enough trust in shipping his stuff to me. It just sucks that I don't get to keep all of the nice stuff for myself, but at least this bike and all the parts will be sitting with my collection for a little while :naughty:

I took these pics today at a really shitty time of day, so the colors don't really pop in the pics and don't do the frame any justice. Enjoy.

The parts list (all are OG finish or NOS unless noted):
Chromoly Nomura frame finished in the color scheme envisioned by Wade, Pearl Automotive paint by Reflections auto body

  4. If you're having trouble on the board...Mac Version

    Posted 12 Oct 2007

Ok, here's some help if you're having trouble on the message board and your on a Mac cuz PC's suck!
I use Firefox for my browser and I never turn my mac off, I rarely quit applications and I just let it sleep.
Anyhow, open Firefox, on the menu at the top, click on Firefox, then preferences.
A pop up box will open that shows all of your browsing preferences. Click on Privacy.
Now click on "Show Cookies", Make sure you remember all of your passwords and user names before moving on because you will have to log in to all of the forums and your porn sites.
    Click on Remove all Cookies.
Optional: You can also click on remove all Private Data - This will remove all of the usernames and auto complete stuff that you enter in login areas. I cleared it cuz it's not a big deal for me to remember.
After you're done, QUIT Firefox. Press Apple Q or right click the firefox icon in the dock and quit or select from the drop down menu and quit.
Restart Firefox, Log in to OS-BMX, and you should be good.

Firefox has a tool that can remember your passwords and you can use a master password to secure it. Then you don't have to type in your password everytime you logout. This is different from the "Remember me" option on the board and is kind of a more secure form of "Auto Complete".

    Safari users:
    Open Safari
    Drop down menu> select preferences
    Click Security> Show Cookies
    Clear cookies.
Select Safari Drop Down menu again and Clear Cache
    Quit and Restart

    Hope this helps.

    Ryan
  5. Here's something you don't see everyday

    Posted 26 Jul 2007

This is my friend Scott Kanemura's 20" Chromoly Nomura. He's a newer member here (kanedog) from the So. Bay here in So Cal. He was a factory Nomura rider back in the day, rode a standard 20" aluminum frame.
He picked this up from Wade Nomura a while back in it's raw and unfinished state. This was never sold to the public, check it out and look at the serial #, not the normal # 1-150. Thought I'd share and no, not for sale.
And if anyone runs into a 20" Nomura with "SK" in the serial #, let me know.
