Ashtabula cranks. Check it.
Posted 6 Jan 2013
Hello all. I went hunting yesterday In an old shop I frequent and I pulled these cranks.
They are 180's as far as I can tell (held them next to a known set of 180's as they have no indication of length on them) I'm thinking of using them on my loop quad. They are stamped "14 77"
Am I correct in assuming the "77" is the year of manufacture? What does the "14" represent?

1986 skyway ta..... Are any of them authentic ?
Posted 26 Dec 2012
Hello all.
I'm wondering if anyone has seen or knows of a 1986 ta that can be authenticated.
I have a pending deal on one and was under the impression that there were some produced back in 86. In researching this subject today I cannot find a bike build that is anything other than those built of supposed "nos" framesets.
I've emailed the seller and requested to back out of the deal as I have no place in my collection for questionable items. I hate the fact that I had to ask to cancel a deal as I don't roll that way and I feel dumb for not doing a bit more research ahead of time. The seller is a member that I hold in high regard and I know he would not knowingly sell a phony item. The problem is that the waters are so muddied that I cannot be sure of the authenticity.
This really sucks. Now I cannot be certain about an item because Ed and bill c decided it would be cool to phony up a bunch of frame and forks for the short sighted collectors that think reproduction gear is swell.
Does anyone know how many bogus f&f sets those two had made?
Does anyone know of a survivor or known authentic 1986 ta?
I'm bummed about this guys.
Thanks, rob -

My wife gave birth to Violet Louise Reminder at 4:07 pm, Friday.
This is our first baby and we are 42 years old. It was a long road as we tried to conceive for 3 years and had to use invitro fertilization to get pregnant.
She came out perfect and weighed 6lbs. 10.7 oz.
This changes everything!
