I see Scott's taste is well defined. Not the first glossy red and chrome whip we've seen from him.
Your story and the effort involved begs the question... why not fab the whole thing fresh, with no old frames involved?
That said, I'm not troubled by the use of damaged old frames. Just seems like they are almost an unnecessary ingredient.
This is always the first thing I think of when I see a 20" > 24" conversion. Also seems like you would be able to control the geometry and get your product a bit sooner too. -

the geometry looks like its a little better than the usual 24" conversions I have seen.
The BB looks like its at a decent height (not too high as you would normally get). What is the TT length?
Tell us the details about the fabrication. -

What exactly made them so special? from the pics it looks like the front hub has a special connection the flange? no pics of the rear though. From the pic of the front hub it looks kind of similar to the wheelchair hubs....no?
Yes they were modified wheel chair hubs and were first gen for bmx bicycles maybe 1977? I would have to ask the products guy steve again for the entire story. I brought them there to have the bearings serviced and the allen tubes that go through the center in the rear hub replaced cause it was shot. He bearly got it finished in time for the June show. Apparently, an early prototype of the first gen hub.
very cool -

route66, on 20 November 2012 - 08:15 PM, said:Well since I have been asked to share this build with my fellow society members. Here you go:
One of the best riding 26" cruisers I have. I bought the frame and fork from another member here. It is one of the cleanest examples of an original finish Champion 26" that I have been able to locate so far. The previous owner bought it from another collector that found it in a bike shop about 1.5 hours north of where I live. I was lucky enough to find the matching bars and seatpost after hunting them down for a couple years or more. All parts are original finish, some NOS prior to install. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do.

What a sweet build!!!
I have to ask......did you get those wheels and tires from Pat? I think those might be my old wheels from my OM Flyer I sold him. If they are its kinda cool to see parts I bought and sold show up and be recognizable. HA! BTW those pedals are sick.
