the museum is no longer a trusted site
Posted 13 Dec 2011
I got a virus called the "vista 2012 anti-virus virus" from visiting the bmxmuseum sometime over the last week and I am not the only one. I have been reading the post that was started over there but not signing in because I believe when I sign in is when the infection happens. It is a malware program with pop-ups that suggest well almost force you to buy a program and even does a fake scan and shows files that are fine. By all means don't buy anything!!
I read more about it on www.bleepingcomputer.com I went into the forums and looked it up. It's fairly a hot topic right now anyways they suggest a program called Rkill which finds and stops the processes that are associated with the virus. It helps but it doesn't solve the problem because the virus is still there. That is where it helps to download and run Microsoft Security Essentials which is free from Microsoft.com but the big problem with this virus is that it can get serious and prevent programs from opening up at all. It happened to me so what I had to do was this:
Restart the computer,Tap F8 repeatedly until the Safe Mode screen comes up. Now the virus got into my Safe Mode with Networking so I clicked Repair Computer and had to do a System Restore to a previous date. I chose Oct something anyways after I did that I went to my Adobe Reader Preferences and change my Auto Download. I ran McAfee and no viruses but I think it may be because I ran Microsoft Security Essentials all night Saturday night and it deleted about 15 files. Some of which were corrupted Java. So I think that deleted a bulk but on Sunday when I visted the museum again I checked my emails and then when I signed out a screen came up and said "This site not safe" and it was in the site with the border and everything and then I closed out that and Bam Vista Antivirus Pop-Ups occur again. Last Night I did the System Restore and changed my Adobe settings around and seems to be fine now but I haven't signed into the museum either.
If anybody sees this and visits that site too and isn't having any problems can you please copy and paste this so danb and others can see this. Some mods "Pussy" and GAry appear to not be taking this very serious and I think that's fucked up because it has to be from one of the crappy ads. Oh well more reason to chill here.
