  1. 26" Cook Bros Cruiser Pick Up

    Posted 29 Jan 2013

Bought this today. It was no steal. I paid well over 1K. Mongoose bars and forks. Bendix 2 speed kick back rear hub.
Frame has been gusseted. Maybe from factory? Paint looks to be brushed on.
    Serial number 631
Any ideas on a production date, guys?

  2. SST Coaster Brake Hub Wheel Building Secrets

    Posted 8 Sep 2012

Building a wheel using SST Coaster hub. Do these use different length spokes depending on inside or outside position?
The first atempt I made is not correct. Not sure what is wrong.
I have built thousands of wheels.
    None with SST hubs.
Who has built one and can shed some light?
    Rim is Araya 7X.
  3. Blazer Mini Find

    Posted 25 Apr 2012

I picked this up locally here in Austin.
The seller informed me this bike was raced by a couple of kids on the factory Blazer team.It was originally set up with sew-ups.
Shane and Shelby Hill were brother and sister who raced on Factory Blazer and from what I've heard were fast as lightning.
I contacted their father on FB and hope to confirm the story.

Th serial number reads 480 and there is a 5 stamped on the steer tube.

  4. Mid School Unicorn Poop Homeless Mack SL

    Posted 9 Mar 2012

This finally surfaced after many years of resting peacefully in a local Austin area garage.
The dropouts have never seen a peg. This was always a dirt jumper in its life.
I know both guys who owned this frame before me and they both rode trails and raced.
Amazing. You never thought of the Mack as a Mid School race bike. HAH!!
The dropout is stamped "XL" before the serial and as you can see by the photos, this top tube is a Stupid Long 21 1/2".
This is one is very special to me. I am honored to have this in my posession.
    Original owner, Carl Lein.
First shovel on the dirt at world famous 9th street jumps 20 years ago this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Second owner, Brian Allmand.
Texas lifetime Skate and BMX hardcore. Lots of shovel time in the early days of 9th.

Sheps told me there were only one batch of these ordered. 25 Frames
