Like I've said in previous years (that I won nothing at) , GREAT show and great atmosphere. Can't wait until next year.
Congratulations, great build. You should post pictures so everyone can see it. -

First Off, everyone should separate the Event from the Contest. I personally walked up to the booth and thanked the promoters for Event. I recommend next year everyone do the same. The event is excellent and well organized and should be praised.
As for the contest, this show appears to favor bikes that are ridden, not NOS or restored bikes. It is the way it has been in the past and probably in the future. The winning 26” bike, according to the winners’ acceptance speech, was purchased off Craig’s List and put into the show with no little to no work. I know this is hard to take for some you spend years piecing together their Grail projects.
This is a judged competition and the judges have a right to choose what they want. We all know this going in. Remember there is no posted criteria or guidelines. If the judges feel that day this bike is better than that one, it is that day. Someone has to win, everyone else has to lose.
I accept when I enter my bikes that my restored/NOS bikes will not win. I enter the bikes to help the promoter offset the cost of the event. I enter my bikes so everyone can see little pieces of BMX History, but mainly I enter my bikes because I am proud of my hard work and effort.
Boomerang, I loved your Trick Star builds and they are great builds. That Yellow Vector was also really cool. I will also defend the CW freestyle winner, it was done extremely well done, and it is rare. The freestyle class was very competitive this year. I won the Freestyle Class with my Trick Star for the 40th Anniversary Bellflower show and was happy a CW won this year, it is a great build. People should never knock other people’s builds.
It is the philosophical question between Show Bikes and Survivor bikes, both sides have merit neither is incorrect. Enjoy your builds. -
