  1. ad from July 1982, BMXA For a long time now, it has been supposed that maybe Torker hubs never really happened. We had seen the brief appearance in Torker advertisements in the early 80's... but nobody in the community seemed to have any or know of them. The operative word being "seemed". Even in Michael Gamstetter's well researched Torker history, he speculated that maybe they never became a reality. This theory was rooted in the lack of physical evidence for Torker hubs. It turns out his single hub example came from Rob Lynch. Unfortunately, Rob passed away and we couldn't ask him questions about the hub. shown with Sunshine hub for comparison's sake After this single hub was discovered, I talked about it with Gamstetter. He was pleasantly surprised to see one after all this time. Well... then one of those interesting moments of serendipity and synchronistic events happened. A guy who had read the Torker history that Michael had authored reached out to him and shared the fact that besides enjoying the article, he still had his old Torkers (he had ridden for Torker) and there they were... clean examples of Torker hubs! So... there are probably others out there, and as in Lionel's case, some may have been under our nose the whole time, but in any case... they for sure existed. Might have been more of a Factory rider thing as it seems the provenance of known examples trails back to, if not sponsored, then at the least well connected known rider/shop owner.

  3. This frameset i love! Pics say it all. NOS 1982 Torker Mini. This is the frame that the ever popular Jason Jensen made so famous. This is a keeper in every meaning of the word but i am flattered by Torker collectors around the globe who would love to have it in there collection

  5. So after looking at the MX and seeing some others out there I dropped the rear brake & swapped out the spokes to a og set of Moto 1’s I have. And man I tell ya I really like it. You know simple is sometimes better as some have said about this frame the coaster was meant for it. Any rate I dig the look and can’t wait to ride it. Going to pop a blue chain rating on it and call it done.
  6. I finally figured out what I will never use out of my stash and I'm posting it for sale here, and here only. I can't do eVil-Bay (you can thank the douchenozzle who tried to steal my grips for that). So basically everything is New Old Stock unless stated otherwise. It's also all pretty much mint, unless stated otherwise. Some of it is a little dirty. I will only ship within the lower 48, I won't do International, too many scams, sorry (that time it was an asshat in Italy who won my USA only auction and then tried to harass me to send him the Vans anyway, but I digress). Don't be shy, we can discuss price. I am open to whatever the going rate is on the stuff I am posting, but that's sometimes hard to figure out. So if you don't like my price show me what a more accurate price would be and we can probably work something out. Bottom line, I won't be a dick about it, we can either make a deal or we can't and either way all will be good. Also, I am open to trades. I need a 24 inch frame and fork for a rider, I am looking for something chromoly from the 80s, no 990 brake mounts, rough but usable shape.is okay. Other than that I'm very open-minded if we can work out a trade a partial trade. I also need an NOS or minty rear Tuff wheel, red, with freewheel mount, plastic hub not metal hub. And a rear Araya 7X 20in wheel with Suzue or similar freewheel hub, also NOS or minty. Gold, blue or red front MX1000, well used or better. Gold MX15 pedal, well used... We'll start with this. NOT NOS, Well Used OG Torker frame pad in blue. Note the rusty snaps and there is a small cut on the edge. $200 shipped. (Are the NOS versions really going for $500? Because I have one of those too) And I will go to the other end of the spectrum, BMX pad, missing a snap, otherwise appears to be NOS. $20 shipped.
  7. Hey guys. I feel like it has been ages since I posted a new build — I guess it has. Well, like I usually do - I'm never rushing through my bike builds. I kinda waited until I had all the "just-right" parts to get this one together - so that I can enjoy the combination - and the ride-ability of it. — I was lucky enough to get an original-finish (paint & decal) 1984 Haro Master frame & fork about 2-3 years ago. It's been sitting around waiting to get built for a while. this one was USA-made in the Torker Factory. The whole build is all original finish — No restored parts anywhere on this bike. — In 1984, there were three different versions of the Haro Master — just within that one year... This one is the first gen. of the three versions. Actually, not too many are accounted for in the community. This particular frame set has all of the early features from the early batches — before the chevron stampings began, before tubing sizes changed (from smaller to bigger), before coaster bracket was moved up, and other small changes, etc. Generation 1 and 2 were still made by Torker. The frame set is essentially the same as an 83 Haro Freestyler - but with an upgraded solid gusset — and was the very first bike in a long line of awesome Haros to wear the "Master" name. I was kinda bent on getting a white one too - since my 83 Freestyler is chrome. And White paint was sort of the iconic symbol in the 84 line. — That being said, I didn't want to do another cookie-cutter "Bob Haro" replica build like most people do when they build an 84 Master, although they are impressive and it makes sense since he was the man to spread the good word of freestyle back then. I really wanted to make this bike my own with parts from the mid 80s that came out around the same time + or - a year or two. This build uses parts ranging from 82-86 (centering around 1984). I built it as though it had been assembled in 84 and upgraded over time as more and more functional freestyle / bmx parts became available. I'm really embracing the specific level of aging and patina on the finish of this bike - using most parts with similar signs of use in the original finishes. The little nicks and chips here and there really bring these parts together in a nice way - and finish off the bike just the way i like it. Enjoy some pics.
