carldrexler
they came out in 87 with the single bend design of the performer. what you have sounds like a 90 to 94 model or 93 (by the 3 on the serial number)
radmeon
Close, Carl. The Vertigo was first introduced in 1988 as the Vertigo ST. It came in colors of Black; White; Chrome; Electric Blue and Magenta. Now granted; it sold in late 1987 but it was the 1988 product line that it was introduced. Does the one you're speaking of look anything similar to this, Brian? This is actually a 1992 model Vertigo. radmeon
Bashguard was just a bolt-on option one could buy and add on like pegs and forkstanders. Remember GT's moto: "Bolt-on is better!"

I have an 88 Vertigo f&f in chrome that I plan on building for my little brother. He had one in one of those day-glo colors (can't remember which right now) when he was a kid and I know it had to of been 88-89.

radmeon
Yes it is, Brian. As I stated in one of previous posts, the one in the pic I posted is a 1992 model.

radmeon
That was a killer color combo you did on that one!
radmeon
I figured as much. I didn't know if you saw my previous statement. Here's a pic from the 1988 catalog of what they looked like "from the factory" (and I use that statement loosely...).
Ryoni777
Also, the 1988-89 Vertigo was stamped GT 4130 and was Chromoly vs. the Performer becoming solely Trimoly beginning in 1986, just stamped GT on the end of the top tube. Performer, like some lower end BMX models from other BMX companies, went to Taiwan vs the USA and Japan, to save costs on labor and materials...This changeover happened around later 1985-86.
