My cyclo-cross build from the mid 70's

4312624758_d365d1a594.jpg

Schwinn Superior frame

Phil Wood Hubs with Mavic rims

Stronglight crank

Suntour brakes and derailleurs

Brooks saddle

Some other small crud

Clips

Skinny-ass tires

Never raced but did a lot of off-roading in the Malibu mountains, Oxnard and Ventura. I thought the frame was bullet proof until I cracked the braising at the bottom bracket. Now it's just a crate full of parts.

Is that one guy in the second and third shot a monkey or a chicken? stand up a little and put those knees to work! also I see the pilot is "smiling" for the camera in the third shot as well! :ROTFLMAO:

uncovered another shot of Joe Franklin flogging his M&L. :cool2:

Old School power slide baby!! :break:

Wow, you found another picture! I've been hunting for anything M&L, with no luck.

Awesome power slide. We use to steal gas station plastic numbers from the signs and then come hauling ass and lock up the rear wheel on the plastic. I still do that crap when I see plastic on the road.

Mel Thread = Bitchin!

I found one just the other day. I was looking at pics from this thread and I found a pic that has a rider watching the track action in the background holding an M&L framed racer. I'll post it up tonite.

Anyhow... Back to the old school RBS days and bikes that actually mean something to everyone.

Here's a classic beauty straight out of Rick's garage:

Is that an R&R hack bolted on that modified girls frame? I'm looking at that R&R sticker on the support tube on the bike's main frame... Those Redline forks are the frishizzle, for sure...

Here's another couple classic beauties from Rick's garage, the RBS Team bikes... :)

I believe the second one was "restored" by Riley.

I remember a time when this thread was THE THREAD for early bmx history, and was required every day reading.

Is it no longer relevant? I had to rescue it from page 12.

I don't really know why it slowed to a crawl, maybe everyone ran out of pictures?

It's still one of the best threads on this site, (even if I don't get this page :off topic: )

Why didn't this thread ever get pinned?
