Admin S.Brothers Posted October 16, 2007 Admin Share Posted October 16, 2007 Well, here it is guys... the long awaited Greg Grubbs interview. The interview has been finished almost one year, but the layout was just finished. Had to train myself in the art of magazines. Congratulations once again to Greg, on his recent honor of being voted in to the ABA's BMX Hall of Fame. Now, sit back and settle in... this is the War & Peace of Old School BMX interviews but Greg is one of the most interesting people in the scene, so we had a nice long chat. tags: Greg Grubbs BMX, Nebraska BMX, Hyper BMX

AndyDiamond
great interview - really intersting stuff about Roker - he always looked like a used car salesman to me..... and Gosserau WAS better looking than Roker so if his wife was porking him I can understand - lol

bob valentik
I love that cover of BMX Action. That was my first and only Grand National race and it was and still is my local track, South Park BMX. I think I raced 16 Novice that year. Awesome memories! I have some old pictures from that Grand National including a pic of Harry Leary, Eddie King and Pete L.. Sorry, I don't know how to spell Pete's last name. If I ever get my scanner working, I"ll post some pics.

Admin S.Brothers Posted October 22, 2007 Author Admin Share Posted October 22, 2007 I'm glad you liked it guys... Greg is a very affable guy, and of course that makes for easy interviewing. And long... as you can see. I can see from the analytics that most of the ADD posse didn't even bother. Expand your horizons, crackaz! Joe B., Yeah I waited a year for your help, but.... Just kidding. The delay was all on me. Next in the Old School BMX interview series... S & M's Chris Moeller!!! Then at least one half ( ) of your favorite OS-BMX neighborhood side hack crew! z-man99
Great stuff! Heavy dose of reality, too. BITD I always assumed anyone who had a factory ride and made the cover of BMXA was rolling in it. Thanks for putting this together Steve. That was some premium quality content. Admin S.Brothers Posted January 6, 2008 Author Admin Share Posted January 6, 2008 Hey Drewel... welcome. I'm a native Kansan as well. Cool to see somebody cite up Doug Prather. I was tight with Darrell Pulliam and as you no doubt are well aware, those two were often dicing it out for the KS #1 plate there at the turn of the 80's. CurbDestroyer
Who from the Midwest was "Factory" sponsored? Right now it's a short list. Greg Grubbs, Steve Gibson, and Doug Prather. I don't understand why Trevor Litton wasn't ever "Factory" sponsored.Does St. Louis count or do they count as being on the East side and for the most part were NBL. I did run into Tim Kakorus (I buthered the last name, but I know someone here will straighten me out) at a moutain bike race a couple years ago and he was doing well. I think Tim was Factory Powerlite at one time. I think John Piant (Factory DG) should be mentioned.Has this thread been officially Highjacked Yet? Was there anybody more consistant than Trevor Litton and not get "Factory" sponsored? What about George Stewart? I mean at the same time I'm talking about how fast Trevor is, I don't remember Trevor ever beating "Geo". Maybe it was the "Pro Elbow"?One question I do have. Do Greg and Trevor wear the same prescriptions, because it obvious to me they wear the same frames.

cwbmx
Hey Drewel... welcome. I'm a native Kansan as well. Cool to see somebody cite up Doug Prather. I was tight with Darrell Pulliam and as you no doubt are well aware, those two were often dicing it out for the KS #1 plate there at the turn of the 80's. Doug Prather was the fastest rider I ever saw on two wheels. He could have been alot faster......if he would have kept the wheels closer to the ground. I sponsored him through my shop at the first ABA Grands in OK City, OK. Along with Norman Jones(Kuwahara), Ryan Pearson(JMC), Scott Henion(HUTCH), Craig Wyckoff(Cook BROS.), Bryan Greble(JMC), Adam Vanpelt(Kuwahara), and Trent Pearson(he was 3 yrs old when he started racing his JMC). All ABA MO-1 racers. and me (Powerlite 24 3-bar)
oldbmxer
Wow that was cool to hear about the grubby -one again. Even tho I raced against him, I really looked up to him. He Is the one that inspired me to learn to coaster wheelie like him..A true rebel.. I went to the Kurahara Nat with tim liththorpe and we were all sitting in the stands between races.. The Nat Anthem was playing and greg had his boom box cranked up.. I recall people yelling at him to turn it off !! He gave them the bird!! At the time I thought It was funny, Not so much now.. But I still like the guy and NOBODY was a smoother rider than he was.. Take care Greg!! Tom Jeffreys Omaha NE
