Was visiting my hometown of Dayton, OH a few weeks back and hooked up with one of my old BMX buddies for dinner one night. He broke out these two pics. Sweet bikes. The B&W is a Patterson, Race Inc. bars, 7C rear/7B front rims, possibly DC MX1000 brakes. Cool bike, funny pic. I remember when we were all learning to do this trick. Approximately 1979/1980.

Color is his GT. He said it came with Gary Turner stickers and he wrote a letter to GT to get the new GT stickers. He said Gary personally sent him a letter with the new stickers. Cool bike. About 1980, too. I ended up with the Thruster in the background at some point.

We were all pretty poor and we traded and bought and sold stuff amongst ourselves all the time. Over dinner we were explaining to our wives what BMX did for us then and how it influenced us and made us what we are now. Most of us had shitty (some worse than others) home lives and BMX was our escape. The small group of odd-ball kids (No one in Ohio knew hat BMX was at that time.) we hung out with were our "family." There were about 5-8 of us who stuck together BMXing from about 1978 to 1984. I'm still in contact with almost all of those guys.
