Hey dav451,

Do you consider yours to be a 74 fork??

I consider mine to be a very early 75 model.

Had to add. Early forks had what looked like a ball race on the fork crown. This was to take a schwinn bearing race but guys didn't realise so seen a few worn down. They later changed to a square cut.

True.  I had a set years ago and tripped when I removed them and saw that angled crown.  I can’t remember what happened to them now.

I like to think of mine as late 76 early 77

Long leg fork with Northridge decals....I would have thought 74/5 for sure!

Could you please explain how and why you consider them that late??

Well, the fork crown is not tapered and redline moved to Chatsworth towards the end of 1977. The fork tubes are 1/2 inch past the dropouts so I don’t really consider them long tubes

Hey PJ1, can you measure the length of the tubes on your nickel forks please? I’m trying to figure out if mine are long or the dropouts are raised. Thanks

where do microcline/patterson style forks fit into the time line ?

1) 1977 nickel proline forks                   2)1978 white non-drilled proline fork.                                                          3)1978 microline frame introduced 4)1979 proline forks in red ,white and drilled also available for 4 and 5 inch headtube.                                 5) 1981 Patterson fork hits the market

Strange that it would be three years after the frame

Yep, I pretty much found what they already had in this other topic.

I think you miss understood me. I’m talking about the microline redline forks that look like patterson forks.

uncapped and teardrops in the dropouts

I’m not sure they made a specific fork for the microline. I think they are prolines just with a shorter steering tube.

Nice, also I notice the Patterson fork tubes go past the dropouts.
