1985 JMC micro mini : Last mm made

Recommended Posts

Part 1 of 2

BEFORE:

Ive been looking for a micro JMC for the better part of 3 years now so when this one came up for sale, I had to have it...even in its complete new school full race trim.

According to Jim and his Ads, he only made 85 frame sets in chrome with the exception of 2 custom order frame sets that were painted white.

Chrome only.JPG

Not only is this a 1 of 85, a 1 of 2 in white but its also the last frame set ever made.

MM84 1-74 were 84's and MM85 1-11 were 85's

Previous owner built it up as an NOS frame but when the factory paint started to flake, he had it chrome plated.

I know it's not correct, but I think it looks pretty bad ass as it sits.

I'm sure it will be sweet when you are done with it.

Thanks guys.

I must admit, the bike looks pretty sick in its current state.

Brian, the wheels are 20x1". It's more like a 1 1/8 but in an aero.

I too passed on the bike until I heard back from Jim with confirmation that it was indeed a 1 of 2 in white. I then did the math and figured if I sell everything off, I can get a mini fork and still be ahead.

Nice score. Good luck on the build. I love when it works out that you come out ahead!

Yeah, it looks quite alright for not being era... but I know you'll do it more than justice. That'll be cool.

Aggs are you going to go back to white frame?

it will definitely go back to white once I find a fork for it. It'll get a proper yet simple build.

Im just happy that I will finally get to use my 24 hole hubs n hoops rockout.gif

I can't wait to see it after it makes it way back in the time machine to 1985.

Not-for-nothin' -- but those Profile hubs looked pretty cool (for new-school hubs anyway). :)

The wheel set was actually a very high end item sold by Profile. I got a few emails telling me they were a $600+ item a few years back

What counts is that its going to a new home where it will get raced and put to good use by a lil tyke

I agree that the 'lil fugger looked bad ass in it's mixed-era regalia. Can't wait to see it done up real proper-like. It couldn't be in better hands.

Hecor,

Got the wheels today bro...about a pound lighter than his Crupi wheelset he was riding. Thanks again!

Right on. What a cool little mini. There is something about mini's that I really like. Def not an era build but it sure was built for speed. Can't wait to see the finished project.

Big ups on the passing the weels to a good home. Love when that happens.

Just a small update:

Jim has claimed (in interview) to have made a limited run of 85 micro minis.

Thanks to Jon016847 for sending me some useful information and Jim Meltons extensive documentation of all his sales from BITD, I was able to verify that Jim only made 56 mm's in 1984 and 11 mm's in 1985 for a total of 67 micro minis made.

This being the last mm ever made (sold to Norms Bike shop ), I present to you the very first mm ever built (aslo sold to Norms Bike shop).
