I remember Scot B. saying that when the freestyle scene started coming on he was kind of "bleh" to the whole freestyle thing, so he didn't really pursue it at first. He went on to say he kind of blew it by not developing more in the freestyle stuff. It might have been in Joe Kid... but not sure.

As for me, what little freestyle stuff I did, I did on my BMX race bike. It was the only bike I had.

When I put together a locally-sponsored Mountain Dew team in the early '80s in south Mississippi, no one had a "freestyle" bike... most of the guys rode white PK Rippers and I had a chrome Torker... we rode ramps and did various flatland tricks while spreading the twin gospels of BMX and Mountain Dew at shopping centers and schools... then we raced those same bikes on the weekends! :OSThumbsUpPeace[1]:

Hopefully some of those old pics of us will surface soon... most probably on that darn Facebook... :whistling:

Coasty, Really diggin' the Supergoose. That is a park bike for sure there. All these young dudes around here would wonder what in tarnation you were riding: short grips; brakes; pads; seat high; Tuffs; big bars.

These younger folk just don't know what they are missing... :nah.I.mean:

Wow I wish I had pics of my Hollywood when I first got it. It was all freestyled out for a little while. CW Cali Freestyle bars, GT Mallet, and GT pegs all around, white tires. It was hideous.

I eventually turned it into a race/street bike, but kept the blue Z Rims on it.

Great topic-

This is an old pic of either my 83 ta or 84 xl bitd, which I think I posted before. This was my original race bike, and I had a haro master, but it road like shit on ramps, so I shelved the master and just swapped out a few parts back and forth. Note gt performer bars and pegs.

I wish I had pics of me riding this same ramp on my race cruiser..

Decent air on 1/4 pipe sans helmet and pads...

The Quad looks kinda Awesome with the Candy Blue and Purple GT parts.

I've never really seen that combo before.

Though, I still like how you upgraded that quad - how it sits in your collection now too BP.

My Torker, pretty much set up for early freestyle (with a Potts Mod, and platform KKT pedals). Recently added the 1st Gen (vdc-made) powerlite bars (which are very similar to 1st Gen Woody Itson bars, a short layback, and the Elina Seat.

Two good mates of mine from my home town in Sydney had race bikes as freestylers.

Two brothers and they had a 1/4 in the front yard as well as a trick ramp (which also doubled as a riverjump ramp!!).

Andrew had a Team Quicksilver full cro-mo race frame made not far from me. He had front brakes so that made him a freestyler. LOl He was a huge Haro fan.

remember this was in 1981.

His older brother was quite tall and he rode a Proline with Coaster braked Tuff II"s. Proline Vbars and front brakes too.

Both these guys could do anything Bob Haro invented. They rode every day for hours.

They had the best setup and we always loved riding out to their house.

This is the only pic I have of Andrew on his Quickie launching off his trick ramp.

I'm in the water to the left of pic.

I actually ride this one around a lot, '83 Californian. I built it around wanting to use that Skyway platform on something. My heels hit it all the time though and it's kind of in the way for my size 12's. Oh well, I like it.
