Spoke size???

Recommended Posts

I have some Cooks hubs that I am lacing up to some 24" Araya 7X's and I never laced up wheels before so I need to know what size spokes to use. Any info or input is appreciated.

You need to get the dimensions of the flange and the ID measurement of the rim. My guess is you will need to have them both in hand at any bike shop these days because I doubt that either of those components is in their database. You could easily measure them yourself.

Google search a spoke calculator and enter in your rim size and hubs.

I'm thinking 9 5/8 inch but you better check.

Bump -- I've seen a few databases with common rim and hub model measurements included already.

This is one example -- I know I've seen others with some more BMX specific data...

244mm in a 4x lace has worked like a charm for me on araya 7x and 24" z-rims with high and low flange hubs. you will want the spoke to just poke through the end of the nipple. if the spoke is short, and you ride them, you will run the chance of the nipple head popping off.
