Old school Powerlite

Recommended Posts

I have an old Powerlite that was given to my son years ago, by a buddy of mine who bought it back in the 80s. He passed away last year and I want to give it to his son so it's back in his family. Just not sure the year.  The only numbers I can find are on the rear brake bridge that are 00202. I am assuming that's the serial number. Any ideas?

Real cool bike.  It’s just need a good cleaning and it’ll be perfect.    I know Powerlite had that frame design from 77-78 to about 81.  Then they stopped using that front gusset.  Yours has a low serial so it’s definitely a late 70s frame.  My guess would be a 1978.

I met my buddy in the 7th grade and he had it then so the years seem about correct.  Thanks and I am going to put a shine on it and make it rideable again. Can't wait to give it to his son.

As it just came out of a store in 1980. Perfect bike, just needs a little clean up.
