Yardsale2
As some of you know I do estate sales and wile I was conducting one over the weekend, like at every sale before asked this old timer if he had any old bike sitting around. He said yea I have an old Schwinn Paramount hanging in the barn along with a “big drum of parts” . I was like ok you selling ? “Sure” . I got his phone number and gave him a call the next day, got in the van and headed out on a 45min drive. Got to the house walked out back to the barn seen the Paramount and had to have it ! I mean all OG 1972 loaded with the “goods” any rate he had a small pile of stingray stuff sitting on the ground so started a small pile. Then he pointed to a cardboard barrel under his work bench and said “that has a bit of old stuff in it” so I moved some stuff to get to it and once I opened it I seen the DC MX1000 set in a bag and started to dig. Then a pedal cage caught my eye and I was stunned !!! Asked it if was ok to dump out the drum and wow I couldn’t believe what I found. A very nice set of Gold Bob Reedy pedals in a drum out in the country!! Now I don’t have much of anything worthy for them so I guess they go in my drawer lol moral of this long ass story in this.. always ask the old timer because you might find a bit of gold lol

Curt
Wow bike porn score! The Reedys and Paramount are in fine shape with little wear what is not to like. The Paramount looks to be a low mileage time capsule. Perhaps all original, I will guess a 1978 or 9 model. I especially like the chromed lugs. Could you take some close ups of the seat mast tube stickers please. I think that is a 531 and perhaps a bike shop sticker?

Curt
Thanks for the excellent images of the seat mast stickers and other details. I was way off on the age. 1971 makes it even more impressive given its fine condition. As cool as the Michigan license is, it's a shame that they partially cover the Schwinn sticker. I wonder if that bike is some type of an Olympics replica or that it pays tribute to an Olympic road bike victory or team? I wonder if the rear dropouts were by Schwinn or some European manufacture? Double butted spokes on those cool Campy hubs. Great stuff, congratulations on the score!

Curt
That cleaned up just right, Looks first class! Because of your post, I did some late night internet research. According to a number of sites Schwinn used Campy dropouts for the Paramount builds. There was plenty of additional information of note. The frame lugs I think are all one source Nervex. With some exceptions for the bottom bracket types due to expense of fabrication. Plenty of other info here: The Classic Era – 1958-79 (waterfordbikes.com) If this is correct and it seems to read well, your Paramount is a P-10 model.
