ROSBMX: OS-BMX HISTORY DECEMBER

Recommended Posts

hey Sandy , maybe you can help me , I've recently iquired this DB that is accually the bike that I rode as a child ,however I'm not sure what year and model it is? I think from one of your earlier post that it is an 83 . The #'s on the drop out read 3h1605 followed by the BB simbol Which I'm guessing that that means it's a foriegn model? My question to you is do you know what model it is ? The one that I had as a child was a Viper.lmk,Thanks a million,Brian

NEWGUY,

Thanks for asking, it might be more than you think. This is going to be a little hard even for me but if you're interested then I'm totally Game?

Here's what we know:

It's a 1983 Frame made in Japan by Koizumi. The Front section looks long and the Brake Bridge might be a clue. It's not a Viper (made in Taiwan), it can only be a Silver Streak, Formula One, Turbo.

Here's what I'll need to help you:

Photo of Brake Bridge, Closer HT Gusset.

(Please measure Center to Center).

Top Tube length, rear BB to middle of Rear Drop-out.

This will get us started and allow us to eliminate a model or Two.

Thanks for Sharing,

SE Finkelman

OK, since everyone is asking Sandy about DBs...

Sandy - can you ID this sucker?

It's been repainted of course...

The serial number is 0K0302 with the baseball symbol.

Cheers,

Andy

AndyDiamond,

Wow good to see so many DB's, some are quite a challenge to ID even for me.

Andy yours is a 1980 Made in Japan pre Black and Silver which means the Team/me had nothing to do with it. This frame is the one with the Prism Snake decals, came as F/F only, it's in the January 1981 BMXA Official Test I'll post a piece of that article.

The part that interest me is that fork, I need some better Photos with the Drop-outs.

Check the Fork Drop-out there might be a ser#.

The frame is usually found with the Dual Drop-out Fork so this might help to ID the Period of the year.

Dude this is what it's all about thanks for sharing,

STR-1 and members,

This bit of info should make someone's day.

Enjoy,

SE Finkelman

This Bike was sold by DB in 1979 without the Diamond in Gusset.

There's a very interesting story behind this Bike (another time) from Japan.

It only sold as a complete bike trimoloy with steel components.

NEWGUY,

Thanks it was a lot easier with the info you provided.

I am now ready to give Positive ID on your DB Frame, you ready?

I can certify this is a 1983 DB Silver streak Frame possibly of the last few runs of the Silver Streak out of Japan manufactured by Koizumi.

I appreciate your assistance allowing others to see a team effort with a system can really work.

Thanks for sharing glad I could help,

Thanks as always Sandy on both the odd ball frame and the Silver Streak info. After working so closely with that frame that I sent Don I also ID'd NEWGUY's frame as a Silver Streak. The brake bridge, the gusset, and the piece behind the bottom bracket were the keys for me.

Hey NEWGUY, no need to thank us. Thank You for being on the board and playing ball with us all. :flower:

That is what makes this commmunity what it is.

NEWGUY did you see this post? I just got done cleaning up this Silver Streak for SEADOIT.

NEWGUY,

I hate to tell you but there's at least 100 other collectors in the World that are in a position like yours, I suggest eBay and lookout for wrong and phony pieces.

It's better to get the pieces before assembling and apply all Decals towards the end.

I don't know what to say as far as Decals the only ones available don't even match or look like the original Silver Streak Decals, so when it completed see if you still want to put the wrong decals on the right Bike?

The above Post on the Silver Streak spec's is your Blue Print.

Good Luck and keep us updated.

Thanks again,

SE Finkelman

302 Zapper sells sticker kits on Ebay. No Silver Streak stickers though. Look under completed listings on Ebay if you need to. If I find a fork somewhere I will let you know. Sprocket will be easy.

Cool Thanks again everybody ! Is the silver streak sought after or is a cheese model ? I would rather put viper stickers on there since I had a viper when I was young.Keep me posted on the forks and let me know if I can help anyone,Brian

PS: fork serial # is baseball OFT

AndyDiamond,

The Fork is 1980 model but I don't see a Diamond in the Drop-out, I need photos of the fork standup F/F and give me a shot of Fork full side view and one closeup od Drop-out if he's interested?

Thanks for sharing,
